Description:

It's almost Halloween, my favorite holiday! We all need more Halloween jewelry, don't you think?

This swap is to exchange one handmade spider gem pin with a partner. The pins themselves are made from up-cycled jewelry like old brooches or earrings. They are easy to make (tutorial link below), and so cute!

More deets:
*Please keep the spiders no larger than 2"-3" total in size, so they're still wearable. Smaller is okay.
*Feel free to use old pins, clip on earrings, tie tacks, cuff links -- whatever you think would work. But make sure you remove the backings or extra 'findings'. You can usually do this with wire cutters, a Dremel, or a strong pair of shears.
*Clean the jewelry first if it needs it; don't send a spider covered in schmutz! (btw, Covered In Schmutz will be the name of my next band).
*Get creative with color combos and designs. Check out your partners' profile if you'd like some inspiration, but ultimately the color, design, etc. are senders' choice. Go bananas!

Oh yeah, and:
*You must have at least 3 type 3 swaps completed to participate. No recent 3s or 1s. PM me with any questions.
*Please rate your partner based on whether the spider is on time, clean, uses jewelry materials, etc. Please don't give someone a "3" or "1" just because you don't like the color or something.

Spider pin tutorial

(Note this tutorial is just for the spider, not for a pin version per se, but you can glue a pin backing on the underside and then you're all set!)

Thanks to Design Sponge for the tutorial!

I just made a couple of these pins -- I attached the legs with craft wire and glued the rest on. Don't be put off by the bit in the tutorial about soldering, you totally don't need to do that!
