Description:

Rummage through your fabric stash and share some of your scraps!

Send a minimum of 6 different scraps.
Scraps must be at least 5 in. by 5 in.
You will mail to two people.
You'll get back a dozen different fabric scraps to play with.

I've set this up as U.S. only because I want to make this a cheap and easy swap. I'm making it a quick turn around since you don't have to make anything. Just pick out the fabric to send and drop it in the mail.

If you don't have scrap fabric, but would like some, here's a way you can join us. Go to a wallpaper store and ask if they have any books that include sample home decorator fabric. Some stores will give the older books away. Or, go to a large fabric store. I just found out that the Fabric Place in the Boston area sells small sample scraps. The smaller ones they sell for 5 cents each. The larger ones they sell for 50 cents each. And there's always the remnant bin. You can get some fabric you like for cheap and share just a couple of scraps.

If this goes well, I may set up a monthly swap. The fabrics we share will be great for small projects or for quilt patches!

Finally, a fabric swap for us ATC/greeting card folks!

AshleyShea 10/ 7/2006 #

Toni, thanks for joining in. Yep, I'm a crafter who loves using small scraps of fabric. I never need a whole lot. Even a quarter of a yard of one kind keeps me going for a long time. I have lots of scraps to share and thought there might be others in the same boat.

I'm in Canada -- any chance I can join this swap? It would only cost a dozen or so cents more to mail to/from here. If not, I guess I'll wait for a North American swap or something. :)

AshleyShea 10/14/2006 #

If I could choose who swaps with whom, I'd let you in the swap, Velveteen. But since I've promised those who sign up that they'll only have to mail inside the U.S., I have to keep it this way.

Thanks for pointing out that postage isn't so bad to Canada. I may have to host swaps that include people in all of the American countries. That would make postage manageable and the wait not too terribly long.

Hi, I was wondering if those that get my name in this swap could send bacy or child friendly prints. I make a lot of baby quilts to give to the hospitals for the babies that don't make it. This way the mother or parents have soemthing to cuddle their child in for one time and then something of that child's to take home with them to keep for memories. Thanks.

I do know how to spell and type, I just don't proof read real well sometimes. Make that baby or child friendly prints. I have no idea what a bacy is??? Sorry!!!

Hi, Sherri. I'm sending out my package to you in the morning. I don't have much for baby/child friendly prints in my scraps, but I included a couple I think might work. I hope you can use the others, too.

Hi. I am open to most any kind of fabric, but just in case my swap partners have anything vintage laying around (pre-1970's) that would be wonderful. Thanks!

AshleyShea: Got my fabrics today! Thank you so much, we're already making plans for some of them! DD loves the sheer multi-color, but DS and I are arguing over who gets to use the fish, lol! Thanks again, this is so much fun!

My luck day, I got both of my packages today. Got one from Shari and I think the other one is from "toryam" Thanks to both you, what a wonderful assortment I got. I am a quilter and when we trade fabric, we think of them as charm squares and that is what I thought we were to do and that is what I sent. More then the required number but still they were just charm squares. So I think I owe my two swappers a big "sorry" since what I got were big pieces of fabric. I hope I am not in big trouble!!!

skenn 10/19/2006 #

Oh yes, I can not for the life of me figure out how to go and rate my senders. I owe both of them a big HIGH 5!!!

AshleyShea 10/20/2006 #

Hi, Sherri and Toryam. I'm glad you both liked your fabrics. Toryam, I'm glad I could provide some fabrics your children like, too.

Sherri, if what you sent out was at least 5 in. by 5 in., you aren't in trouble. ;-)

You can't rate the people who sent to you yet. You'll get a notice a week after the deadline date. That's when you'll be able to give a rating.

I received my fabric today, too! Yippee! Thank you, Shannon. So many different colors and textures to play with. I'm going to have a lot of fun with them this weekend!

toni 10/20/2006 #

Sherri, I also sent out small pieces as I do mixed media stuff and that is what I use and collect. I also sent out a few more than required and hope my partners aren't disappointed.

AshleyShea 10/28/2006 #

Sherry, since you were asking before, now you should see a link here that will allow you to rate your partners.

I hope everyone received from their partners, or will in a couple of days. Please email me if you don't receive something. I am a diligent swap host. I will ban someone from future swaps if they don't follow through in swaps I host.
