Description:

Anyone else like swapping journals? It's been a couple years since I've seen/done a swap where one sends a naked journal to their partner. If I'm trespassing on another swap, please let me know and I can pull this one down.

Naked: as in no packaging whatsoever...just adhere the address and postage straight onto the front/back of the journal and mail it. However, please do make sure to secure the unbound/open side of the journal as to keep it all together while it's in transit.

Please choose a journal that your partner will like by visiting their profile.

If you'd like add extras, like a short letter in why you chose the journal and introducing yourself; a page of writing/journaling prompts; a photo or postcard with a quick note on the back or with a writing prompt; etc.

Not so fun stuff: Please don't sign up with any recent 1s or 3s in the past 3 months, I will ban those without explanation when it's in the swap description as to why I've banned. Life happens sometimes and gets in the way, so please don't misunderstand me! I also will ban anyone who seems sketchy at best and will check to see if you've logged into swap-bot up to 3 days prior to the sign up deadline. Newbies welcome, but with a very well filled out profile. No ratings below a 4.95 please, as I will also ban you.

Qualms, questions or concerns, please contact me through PM! Happy swapping those naked as a a jay bird journals!!

A blank journal or do we fill it?

handsdown46785 05/31/2012 #

Blank... it's just a journal to send your partner for your partner's use. :)

handsdown46785 05/31/2012 #

Hence why such a short time to send it.

Should be store bought? Or can also do a handmade one? :)

handsdown46785 07/ 2/2012 #

I'd say either store bought or very well handmade. :)

I LOVE this swap!!! I love journals!!! I just bought a very cool one for myself today, and think that I will have to go get another one like it so send to my future partner!

Hint, hint: I LOVE handmade ones (but understand if my partner is not crafty (like myself)). I would love for my partner to write in, like a quote, some advice, etc.

Thanks!!!! :) :) :)

Just to be clear--I buy a journal, and stick the mailing information on the cover and send it that way? I don't try to put a strap around it to keep the thing shut in the mail?

handsdown46785 07/ 6/2012 #

Correct to the first question...just write on the journal front/back the addresses (return and sending to) and place the postage directly to the journal. However, please strap the journal shut somehow with a good sturdy rubber band or tie a good sturdy string around it...or however else you may want to keep the journal shut while it's in transit. Some journals have built in straps that go around from the back to the front, some have ties already attached, or even some have a magnet in an added flap that wraps around to keep the unbound side shut... it's whatever you're wanting to send or how you would like to do it.

I know what journal I am sending out for this swap (new), that is made of this super cool paper , handmade, and fair trade....the pages inside are handmade!!!!!!!! I love it so much for when I bought one for myself, I decided to send one of those as my swap, but am waiting to see what is on my partners profile.......more so for the colors that they would like. So whoever gets me as their swapper, please tell me if you like: green, purple. or a mixed designed one,

Since it is so nice I am going to wrap it in a bit of brown paper just to protect the cover........and cause I always include an extra goodie in my swaps.

Does that bother anyone......about the browm paper, I don't want to go against the ruled, but, I think you understand why I want to wrap it.

Thanks.

I can understand wanting to protect the journal... however, it is a naked journal swap though...so whatever the postal workers/service does to it adds character to the journal. The previous naked journal swaps I've partook in, the journals I received weren't even damaged in any way. Double check with your partner though to see if they'd mark down for NOT sending it as a naked journal... an idea would be to go ahead and write the addresses onto the journal and ask that you're partner then can cut out the postage and adhere it to the journal if you're really wanting to protect the journal by wrapping it in brown paper. I'd still advise sending it naked as I've yet to receive a damaged journal due to not being in any kind of wrapping.

OK, now I finally get it!! This is freaking awesome!!!! The stamps and post marks are all part of the art of the journal! Now I love it even more!!!!

Are we allowed to write something inside........like a quote, or a glued on postcard? Whoever gets me, please feel free to add whatever you want to it, go crazy with it, please. if you like.

This is so fun!!!!

handsdown46785 07/ 7/2012 #

It's not required that you add a little extra to the journal with a quote or postcard. I suggested in the swap description that you may add a little something if you'd like for your partner, but it's not required.

AmookIslandCreations 07/ 7/2012 #

I love handmade and creative writing as well, so whoever gets my name, please feel free to play with it before you send it to me. No purple or pink please :) This looks like a lot of fun!

bamagrrl 07/10/2012 #

Feel free to send me handmade and or play with it first!! I love creative things!!

ReneeinPittsburgh 07/10/2012 #

Yes, yes, yes, me three. I don't care what the journal actually looks like,, but please, whoever get's my name please: take a few extra minutes to decorate it/glue stuff in to it/and add anything you think I would love please. Somedays I need a push to write in a journal and I hope you can help me with that. Thank you!!!!!!
