INTERNATIONAL!!!

I am a brand-new Zentangle enthusiast but am really just now starting to learn some of the official Zentangle patterns at http://tanglepatterns.com/. So, needless to say I am not very good at making these little art creations, or atleast I don't think I am, lol. I am hesitant to join Zentangle swaps because the last thing I want to do is disappoint an experienced, very talented Zentangle artist. So, I figure there are probably alot of other beginners like me who would like to swap with other beginners. So here we are:)))

For this swap you will cut a 3.5" x 3.5" piece of white cardstock. Then you will create a Zentangle using any of the official patterns found at http://tanglepatterns.com/ or any other patterns you may find online or already have in your possession. You may also design and create your own zentangle patterns if you would like to. I know I for one am having a hard combining pattens I find on the web in order to create a pretty zentangle with several combined patterns. I tend to like to create my own as I go, lol. It has been brought to my attention that there are alot of Zentangle patterns that have been designed by various artists that are not listed on the 'Official Website", so feel free to search the web and use any Zentangle pattern(s) you come across on the 'Official Site' or elsewhere. You can use one pattern or you can use 10.....it is entirely up to you. I know if you are like me, it is alot easier to learn the patterns by concentrating on one at a time instead of trying to combine several patterns in the same piece of artwork. So, if you are more comfortable with using only one pattern that is fine, or if you want to use more, that's fine too. Just as long as you do your very best work and send your partner a Zentangle that you wouldn't mind receiving yourself:)))

To join this swap you must have a 4.95 rating with no recent unexplained 1s or 3s. If you are a newbie, you must have been rated on 2 type 3 swaps and have a 5.0 rating.

How come the tangle patterns others create are not official, unless they go through this woman? I have been wondering this for a couple months now. because it seems quite unfair to many artists that do not use her site.

Some do not want to be linked with her site, because they are not getting any of the profits she is making.

And becuse of the limits to use her site, many gteat patterns are getting ignored.

I know you are the host, and will respect the rules, however this has become a great concern to me. Especially since I see many patterns that could be used.

Well, @fawnscrafts ...actually I was not aware that there are zentangle patterns that are not found on the so-called official site. I am brand new to zentangles and have just noticed that seems like every swap I see for zentangles requires that the official patterns are used. So, basically I was just following suit and thought those were the only "official" patterns. I don't have a problem at all with anyone using any patterns that they find elsewhre. I will gladly change the description to say that any zentangle patterns are allowed on the "official" site or elsewhere:)))

Thanks @fawnscrafts for bringing this to my attention. To be totally honest, I really don't know what I am doing when it comes to zentangles, that's why I am hosting this newbie swap:) LOL.

when I first started doing tangles, I just made up my own and never had anyone complain about them. I don't understand why we have to follow someone else's idea's and not come up with our own, maybe use those sites to help you come up with your own. I thought tangles were suppose to be your doodles, not something to stress over.

Thank you @Bettflow09 I understand where you are coming from. I appreciate you allowing us to use other tangles. I love designing my own and have started a book of them. Some blend well and others, well, those are ones that I would not share on line when I get my blog updated, LOL

I love doing art work with tangles and it gets hard to keep searching some of the 'official' ones. Thank you for adjusting your swap.

I have reconsidered and taken everyone's comments into consideration and I decided to edit the types of zentangle patterns you can use. I for one am having trouble combining several official patterns together into a single work of art. I find it much easier to design my own as I go, but am also looking forward to learning all the various official patterns too. Just have to keep practicing and know that as we work together to swap our newbie zentangles we can learn from each other and later will be able to expand our talents to be able to create more professional, beautiful works of art:))

Partners will be assigned the 2nd, so ya'll get ready to put those pencils to work:)))

This is awesome. I admit, some of my patterns are not good, they are not going to be used, for swaps or on any other tangles but the one in my art book.

However, some come out pretty cool. I love the old movies because they have a lot of things you can make tangles from. I have used bathrobes to wall paper to stair rails to carpets to doors to dresses.

Life has all sorts of patterns surrounding us. Books about history whit lots of photos can be a great source. Family crests are another source.

Even crochet items can be a source.
