Description:

You know your Father very well, you know what he likes, dislikes, what he dreams of. However, it's tough for you to find something special for him. Then why not ask for help?

In this swap, you will describe in the comments your Dad's preferences, dreams, passions, what is he like or directly - what kind of present(s) he would like to receive. You may also give an info about his age - it could be a helpful information. :) And don't forget to write his name! :))

Then, your partner will take care of the Christmas present for him! And you will have to do the same for your partner's Dad.

What should the package contain: 1) ATC or handmade/storebought card with Christmas wishes

2) Present(s) worth of minium $5

3) A little thing of rather sentimental value, found at home in good condition (a pebble, a postcard, a stamp - whatever you think your partner's Mum might like) OR something you would craft by yourself :)

LET'S MAKE WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS FOR OUR BELOVED DADS!

(No newbies in this swap. Minimum 5 completed swaps type 2 or 3. I'll check profiles.)

My Dad's name is Jacek. He's in his late 40s. He has a crush for marzipan and for sweets generally. He likes travelling and really enjoys all war-related (especially 2nd war war) monuments and events. (He is able to communicate in English but it would be tough to him to read a book in this language. But tourist guide would be okay I think. And some other books that shows things through graphics, not through words only.) He likes making food and drinks, especially different kinds of meat and wines. Usually he gets inspired by the recipes in the Internet - that's how he found out how to make tasty creme brulee! He enjoys photography a lot. He knows Norwegian language, as good as English or even better. He's been working in Norway for many years. He does constructor, maintenance and repair buildings as a job. Now he's especially interested with churches' roofs and generally church-related architecture (I think he might be happy receiving some postcards with cathedrals or churches). Besides, he loves LEGOs!!! :)

I really, really like this and the mum swap like it. I understand having to mail out by 12/1 in order to arrive by Christmas. But that week is a very busy holiday week, and it'd be hard for me to shop for something so specific during that time frame. Could the sign up date be pushed up even a couple days? (American Thanksgiving is 11/22, and the "holiday shopping season" starts that Friday, 11/23, and I, for one, know I'm working all that weekend.) I would totally love to sign up, or else private with someone else in a similar predicament :(

My dad is an original computer geek. Anything weird/technology he'd probably enjoy. He likes terrible movies. He collects old music (recordings of old songs, original recordings; he likes things like Maori war chants, national songs, things like that. I can describe this better if need be.) He likes weird candies/snack food but PLEASE NO LIQUOR/ALCOHOL. He has been sober for 8 months! He likes "true crime" novels, like Kathy Reichs. He loves nice writing utensils (nice meaning writes smoothly. interesting colored ink, something remarkable, like the erasable sharpies that exist.)

My dad likes to carve things, and would probably appreciate geometric or very traditional folk art carved things that aren't highly painted (he likes folk art related to nature or old guys hiking in the woods, that sort of thing). He likes winter, snowshoeing, Norway, trolls, things made out of wood or stone. He likes to go on canoe trips in the North Woods with his brother. He likes reading about nature, travel writing, that kind of thing. He does not hunt or do a lot of fishing except when he is on his canoe trips. He'd probably like Christmas ornaments that depict trolls or the Yule Nisse (bearded like gnomes but a little messier!) or that are very natural. He likes the music of Buena Vista Social Club, folksy Latin American music, any kind of Norwegian music.

My dad loves fishing. I think it's his longest hobby. So he would love everything connected (all those little thingies would make him smile :)). He also is an adventurer so like walking, sailing and mountains. Yeah, I would say mountains is his second hobby. So he would be happy to receive photo albums, travelling kits, accessories. He has a sweet tooth for chocolate and weird sweets from all over the world. We've recently moved to a small town from a huge city and we finally have a place for a bath tub :) He enjoys long baths so he would love all bath accessories :)

Okay...my dad just turned 67, he's really into gardening (especially into how exactly one builds great waterscapes) and trains. He's got train books and magazines from all over Europe. He lived in the states for a while and really loves native american arts and crafts. He also loves Yosemite. He used to read a lot, especially science fiction and spy novels, but the small print is a bit of a problem these days. He also likes folk music (other music too but with the collection he has I can't imagin what he'd want) He's from Switzerland.

Oh and he likes PCs. He spends A LOT of time on the computer or reading computer magazines.
