Description:

This is US only due to the weight (APO more than welcome to join).

Everyone has thrift stores around them somewhere. Whether it be Goodwill, Salvation Army, little hole in the wall thrift stores!

This will be a scavenger type hunt for the things listed below. Tshirts/tops are okay, just be sure to list your sizes at the comment section. You MAY NOT list specific types of items you like. This is a hunt for different items, it's a surprise! Please do not find bottoms or pants as everyone differs with this.

LIST TO FIND

  • Something vintage
  • Something glittery
  • Something blue
  • Something orange
  • Something pretty
  • Something weird/odd
  • Something Floral
  • Something that has ears
  • Something to read
  • Something bright & colorful
  • Something ceramic/porcelian
  • Something flat
  • Something soft

Everything on that list must be found, and labeled (whether in a card or letter). ALSO you must include a little note (doesn't have to be long) why you love Thrift Stores so much and some of your favorite finds.

I've given you a month to round things up and ship things out. This should be plenty of time to go searching. Things do not have to be expensive, but make it something you'd like to receive in return. No stained, ripped, or junk/dirty items please!

Remember to list your tshirt/top size in the comment section.

MUST USE DELIVERY CONFIRMATION FOR WHEN YOU SHIP!!

  • Now, for the nitty gritty:

  • No no sends in the past couple of months

  • No newbies, sorry!
  • 4.9 rating or higher
  • Must be rated on at least 6 mailed swaps (email swaps DO NOT COUNT)
  • No flakers, I will check forums before I sign partners
  • Please send your swap out on time, if you're going to be late for any reason, please let me and your partner know BEFORE the date due.

ooh this sounds like fun. I would prefer no clothing items for myself as I have way too many but my partner can check my profile and get something for my kids if they can't find a non clothing item for me.

weeatcrayons 04/ 2/2008 #

I wear a size M or large in tops (medium in men's for my brother if you happen to find something that suits any of the "somethings" up there)

weeatcrayons 04/ 2/2008 #

I know, I was at the thrift store the other day looking for cute summer items for my neice and thought of this swap while browsing around! Be neat to see all the fun things my partner picks out for me :) I love surprises!

3YorkieMom 04/ 2/2008 #

I love the Hawaiian shirts that no one wears and everyone gives away. Large and X-Large. No other clothing please. I love game pieces, large puzzle pieces!! So much stuff. My profile is thorough! Check it out!

igobylorib 04/ 2/2008 #

Can you combine two categories into one item? The list has 13 items and I'm just worried about postage even in the US.

weeatcrayons 04/ 2/2008 #

I'd rather not combine, yes it's a long list but the things don't have to be expensive. Plus there's also great flat rate boxes out there! The large box is $8.95 shipping, it's great!

3YorkieMom - please nothing specific as stated above. This is not based off of profiles but a scavenger hunt surprise!

lilmissthrifty 04/ 2/2008 #

I'm so excited for this swap! I love thrifting!!!

I am a size medium...or large! Love funky T-shirts... and work type clothes... LOVE SURPRISES!!!

weeatcrayons 04/ 2/2008 #

Yes I know, I'm visiting one of them tomorrow during my lunch break so I'm going to start finding things!

Kristipye 04/ 2/2008 #

These Thrift store scavenger hunts are my favorite!! I wear an XL in tops or even 2XL in T-shirts--I like big baggy ones to exercise in.

pianoheart 04/ 2/2008 #

Sounds like fun. Not too many thrift stores on this island, but there's always church rummage sales and such. No clothes for me, please...maybe a one-size-fits-all used music CD instead?

weeatcrayons 04/ 2/2008 #

Ty all for signing up! And remember the flat rate postage boxes!! Especially if you can get your finds out before postage goes up again in May. Even yard sales will work as they're basically what thrift stores are anyways! Esp of your having trouble finding good thrift stores! We have others here besides just goodwill, there's some run by churches, there's one owned by this family, etc! Look in your local phonebook and see what you can find, or ask around, someone may know of a thrift store you've never been to! lol

weeatcrayons 04/ 2/2008 #

And like I said, the things don't have to be expensive, and they're not based off anyone's profile..they could be small items, they could be large items, whatever you feel is right to send!

annabel52 04/ 3/2008 #

Please no clothing for me. I can't find anything for me at thrift stores and I'm sure it would be hard for you to find something for me :)LOL I have two princess grandaughters that would love summer clothes if you can't find me something. They are size 4 and 5 and a camo grandson that is size 12.

stacirose 04/ 4/2008 #

No clothes for me but my geek husband wears a Large Tall or XL regular. (He's 6'3" and his interests are in my profile.)

Just a tip! Goodwill type shops have GREAT handmade ceramics for mere dollars! I love collecting handmade pottery and find some great pieces for very little money. :)

This is a very creative swap - great idea! :D

TryshaH81 04/ 4/2008 #

I love these swaps!!!! I wear XL or bigger in my tops because I like them baggie! I can't wait to go do some shopping! I went to one last night but we have like 6 close to me that I go to on a regular basis!!

Another Thing for shipping ~ My local Post Office (don't know if all have these yet) has now got a $12.95 flat rate box for priority! I always use the $8.95 when shipping my thrift store swaps but if needed you could always go up to that size!!

weeatcrayons 04/ 4/2008 #

I already started shopping on some, found some interesting items!! I couldn't resist making a pit stop into one of my favorite stores!

daffyd1963 04/13/2008 #

great idea

i wear an 2X large as i like them to be loose perfer T shirts but whatever you fine will be great fun swap

nolagirl 04/14/2008 #

I tried to resist this swap but I couldn't! I usually have to try shirts on (I have shirts in sizes S-XL in my closet), so I would rather not get clothing for myself. My son wears a kids' XL or an adult small in case you find something for him.

CajunLady 04/15/2008 #

I started my shopping yesterday. So far, I have only 5 items but the thing that sucks is that I couldn't resist a book for 3 of the categories! Well actually, one of them is actually for the "something to read" category!

For my tshirt size, I wear a men's or women's medium.

Curbshopper 04/15/2008 #

Love it, love it, love it!!! XXL in size I like em baggy. Also, I LOVE a bargain and a good deal I think it would be neat to leave the price tag on so we can see what a deal we got! CAN'T WAIT!!

KitKat 04/15/2008 #

For me, an XL or any size if you happen to find one that mentions OZ.

scowlette 04/16/2008 #

i am man size M or lady size XXL

cerwinrhiannon 05/14/2008 #

This was a lot of fun! I felt like I was on a mission.

I'd like to do it again.
