Can handmade items be sent?

LindaRichards 04/18/2013 #

@greymouse yes, as long as they are clean, not garbage, etc.

Is 6x9 in cm?! I'm trying to convert it into British envelope sizes and getting confused :/

LindaRichards 04/24/2013 #

@snailmailer1 I'm so sorry that is in inches.

snailmailer1 04/24/2013 #

Thanks :)

This is another fun one: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/145954

trula 04/25/2013 #

Should this envelope be 1 oz or less, or can we use more than one stamp?

LindaRichards 04/25/2013 #

@trula you can use more than 1 stamp if you'd like.

Suneyflower 04/25/2013 #

I think you need more than one stamp to send something that size, if not size than probably for the weight/rigidness of the package

@snailmailer1 - Tell me you didn't really think 6 x 9 referred to cm! Estimate 6cm with your fingers... That would be one TINY envelope to send through the mail on its own. It would get caught in their machinery. I'm just chuckling because although I find it frustrating when some people forget about (ahem) the entire rest of the world - all of us who know and use the metric system! - it does help you guess what they meant if you do know and use - well - either of the two systems really. Btw, I might be shooting myself in the foot here having just said all that ;) but I think 6 x 9" is euther a C5 envelope or close enough. No worries if you don't know B and C envelope sizing (akin to A3, A4, A5, etc for paper), but if you do I'm hoping that's helpful. ALSO, if you don't have a cm/inch ruler to hand (they are harder and harder to come by here in Australia), you can just enter "6 x 9 inch to cm" into Google and a converted measurement will come back at you. Easy! Lazy, but easy! :X

papercaper 04/26/2013 #

6 x 9" = 15.2 x 22.8cm

I was wrong about entering google search terms that way. It still gave me the result about 3rd answer down, but the default answer was a multiplication of 6 x 9 inches then converted into cm. Yikes!

ALSO, those dimensions are very close to a C5 envelope. This is just lucky because I meant to write C6 above (smaller) and that would have been way wrong. :)

Thanks for the clarification @papercaper I was confused by Google's answers, and a ruler isn't that useful to me. I'm blind. My magnifying equipment's LED has broken.... so I'm stuck until after the weekend :)

Hmmm...I'm liking the "send" part of this swap--I have SO MUCH PAPER I don't need anymore--but don't really want much back. lol

I'd love to do a private swap sending a huge box of paper goods out in exchange for something of reasonable value (compared to the postage, at least), but much smaller--no idea what that could be.

LindaRichards 04/29/2013 #

YAY!!! MADE IT TO NUMBER 1!

Justbeedesigns 05/ 2/2013 #

This is my first swap and I am not sure how to find out who my swap partner is. Can someone fill me in. Thanks!

papercaper 05/ 4/2013 #

@snailmailer1 - That's a lot more understandable then! I'm sure I wouldn't be too familiar with conversions between inches and centimetres if I was blind. I'm glad my conversion helped, and if I can help in any other way, just let me know.

@Justbeedesigns - In the top right corner of this page is a pale yellow box called "Swap member options". Two lines down is a link reading "See the partners you send to". Pressing on it will open up a new window on top of this one. You'll find names, usernames and addresses there.

ATTENTION SWAPPERS: it appears that we have a few bad apples in the bunch! I am going to "Angel" a few swappers who did not receive. If you would like to volunteer to "Angel" a swapper, please let me know. Thank you!
