Description:

JulieF did this swap last year and I loved it! So . . . For this swap you will have one partner and keep a journal for one summer. You can start before partners are assigned. During this time you will write at least thirty entries (but feel free to write more). Each entry should contain some text. Text could be a story, a poem, a top ten list, a couple paragraphs about your day, a quote you like - whatever you feel like writing.

Here's the twist: each entry should also contain an "extra." Extras could include an illustration, a recipe, a collage, a photograph, a song, a little something that you picked up that day (brochure, piece of candy, etc), or whatever else you can come up with. The extras can vary by day, so you could have a song for the first day, a recipe for the second day, and a photograph for the third, etc. Extras can either be glued into the journal (think recipes, photographs, etc) or packed in the package with the journal (think small handmade items, sweets, etc). However, for things that are packed in the package, please note which entry they are for. At least two of the extras need to be higher value. This could be interpreted two ways – either items that have a higher value money-wise ($3-5 USD) or items that have higher value effort-wise (a handmade item of some sort).

Basically the intent of this swap is to create a journal stuffed full of interesting text and goodies. It will be a sort of smash book/ junk journal. You will send the journal to your partner and they will keep it. The journal itself should be 5x7 inches or larger. Keep in mind International Shipping costs, though. It can be store bought or nicely handmade. As host I reserve the right to ban questionable swappers. You must have at least 10 type 3 swaps to join.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COMMENT WITH SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE THIS SWAP. I WILL TAKE THEM INTO CONSIDERATION.

I used to do these before, they were called Journal with a Twist, great swaps... I would suggest a minimum size journal of A5 (5" x 7") as not only did it work better in a bigger book, you don't want to fill a large journal & receive a mini or pocket size book in return.

I'm feeling creative and brave so I will attempt this challenging swap....just hope I don't get flaked on! It will also require some extra postage if going international.

I changed the minimum size to 5x7 inches at the request of a participant. Let me know what you think!

i'm still watching this swap but i will join nearby the signup date.. =) i like the idea, the cheap mind of me says to use a smaller pocket journal, spain shipping cost just killing me softly.. but in terms of fun, just like what @secretterrabite said, it's more fun to fill larger journals rather than just a chicken scrabble on a pocket journal.. i will be on holiday in the beginning of sept, so i will make my journal for June-July-august ish and start asap now? just gonna be 30 or more entries a long those months.. is that okay? please pm me if you don't mind.. so then i know what's your reply as i'm not checking it all the time =)

ok - my sister twisted my arm on this one - I am going to go get a journal tonight. I have been flaked on EVERY journal swap I have done, so I am taking a leap of faith here.....

kgeslab 05/30/2013 #

It would definitely be awesome to receive a journal like this from another country! :)

secretterrabite 06/ 9/2013 #

I feel the same. I'm in the UK and I'm always curious about how people live in other countries.

KristinCali 06/14/2013 #

Already started mine!

scrapkween 06/17/2013 #

I didnt see a requirement for the minimum amount of pages we need to do?

kgeslab 06/18/2013 #

No minimum pages, but at least 30 entries, each of which should be at least 1 page. But, hey - let's try to fill that sucker up!
