Just to clarify: You do not have to write a piece every day. You certainly can if you would like to, but it is not necessary. You need only send one piece based on the prompt.

This is the first in the "Just a Little Prompt" series for the Wordy Writer's Workshop. I am making the first month of these swaps public to advertise the group. This will be the first in a set of bi-weekly prompts.

The goal for this swap is to take a little time out of your day just to write. This need not be fancy or long, just so long as you set aside a few uninterrupted minutes to spend on your writing.

The rules are simple. Take as much time as you would like and write whatever you are inspired to. This should be fun and relaxing, not stress inducing. For this one, there will be no max or min. word length, so let yourself go.

You will have 2 partners. Be sure to take some time to read what your partners have written, then perhaps offer a comment or two. There is no need to be mean. I will ban anyone who abuses this swap from future ones.

This week's prompt:

He told himself he wasn't curious about the bricked up door in his basement.

Minimum rating of 4.8 and no recent unexplained 1's or 3's. Newbies are welcome to join.

So we basically journal/write on the computer and then send that to our partners,m starting with the sentence you have at the bottom of the description?

If you want to make that sentence noticeable, go to edit swap and just before the word He do ** and then just after the words basement do the same... **

That will bold that sentence so all the swappers can easily see it.

@fawnscrafts - Yep. That's the idea. Just like you were doing a quick prompt at a writing group or something. You don't necessarily have to lead with the prompt, but it should be obviously related in some way.

Thanks! I couldn't figure out how to do that. I learned something today. :)

This sounds way too fun! I have to join this one. I will just have to force my husband to take over a bit more so I can write :D

aurelas 08/ 6/2013 #

Hi... I'm not clear on this part...

We are writing daily for a week (5 days).... but

Do we save up the 5 days worth and email our 2 partners once?

Or is the intent to send our writing each day as we complete it (so emails per partner)?

@mkstreet - Hi. I am sorry if it was unclear. I will edit to clarify. You need only do one writing exercise for the week, although if you would like to write a little bit daily, go for it! I simply set the deadline for a week so that people would have time to work on it, in case of other commitments.

I like the idea of doing a daily writing swap. I wonder if there would be interest in it. I'll ask around in the forums and see. Of course, if you would like to host one instead, go for it.

@aurelas - That's right. Show him whose boss. :D Glad to have you both.

mkstreet 08/12/2013 #

Oh no problem... thanks for clearing that up.

I think doing daily writing is a great idea as far as writing skills goes, but that's too many emails to send and expect others to thoughtfully consider those emails.

So, if anyone had a "daily writing swap", it's probably best to write daily and gather than into one email for the week. That's how I will be doing this swap..... :-) thanks!

Ahh, much better. I was thinking over that exact point. Thanks for the clarification! :D
