For this swap, if you do not have access to double sided paper, you have a few options:

  • Decorate the white side yourself (stamp, paint, etc.) before folding
  • Make the book and then just decorate the white sides showing
  • Use another tute of your choice as long as it meets the size requirements below

From only one sheet of double sided scrapbook paper, make one of these cute little mini books with pockets for your partner (this tute is provided as a starting point only).

If you prefer printed instructions, look here. This book is made basically the same way as in the other tutorial, it is just bound/finished differently.

Decorate the book as you like, add a mechanism for closing it, and fill each of the 8 pockets with one little thing.

If you would like to make a different kind of mini book than the one shown above, you may, as long as it is no larger than 4" x 6" and contains 8 pockets to hold 8 little items.

Please note for filling the pockets:

  • At least two pockets must contain "made by you" items - you may use any materials and any techniques you like.
  • One pocket must contain a Holiday wishes note to your partner.
  • The other 5 pockets may contain items either purchased or handmade - sender's choice.

Ideas for filling the pockets:
- embellishments, e.g., paper flowers, rhinestone stickers, chipboard shapes, etc.
- die cuts
- fun ribbon, string, yarn, thread, etc.
- buttons
- gift tags
- ornaments
- mini envelopes
- clear or rubber stamps
- a special poem, saying, etc.
- stamped images
- brads
- ATCs
- inchies/twinchies
- mini zine
- beads
- charms
etc.

This is supposed to be a little Happy Holidays gift for our partner, so please gift wrap it. Tissue paper is light.

I see this as having 3 possible themes:

  • Secular Christmas
  • Religious Christmas
  • Winter (not specific to Christmas)

If you have any preferences re themes, please post below which TWO you like. If you do not post below, it will be sender's choice.

I have set the dates early in the hope that everyone will receive their swaps before the holiday mail rush and well in time for the holidays.

Please pm me if you have any questions as I do not check my swaps every day. Thx.

I have been asked if the gifts inside the book can be something other than winter/Christmas theme.

Yes. This is like a Christmas present - the wrapping should reflect the theme but you may put whatever you like in the pockets as long as 1 is a note, 2 are handmade, etc.

My partner will mail mine by Nov. 25.
