Have fun!

Could we use the tape over a postcard that we already have? Or does the base card need to be blank?

I am willing to bet (my hubby's paycheck...) that as long as the background does NOT show through you can use any old postcard for backing. In fact what I was going to do is get a postcard that I know I will never use and cover the front with a neutral color and then place my washi tape design over that.

None of the neutral color will show through at all, it will just prevent the background picture on the pc from bleeding through. Does this make sense?

FYI (Did you notice I said I would bet my hubby's paycheck...not my own LOL)

LOL. Your explanation makes perfect sense (to me anyway!). I will have to do some experimenting.....I think it might look pretty spiffy (with the right image and colors) to have some of the picture showing through........hmmmmm......a thought, but maybe not for this swap!

(And personally, I would ahve had to bet my paycheck.......Hubby's is bigger!)

My intent for this swap is that the front of the PC be totally covered with washi tape. As long as the image doesn't show through, you may certainly use another PC as your base if you like.

Maybe the next washi tape PC swap that I do can be more flexible. (";)

Is it okay to cover the washi taped front with something like mod podge or clear packing tape? I always worry about it peeling off in the mail.

Yes, you may secure the front of your PC with packing tape, mod podge, lamination, etc.
