Fascinating People Postcard Swap, R1 (Inventors)

I'm fascinated by people (both famous and not-so-famous), and so I thought that it might be fun to teach each other about intriguing personalities by way of a short blurb on the back of a postcard. Each month will feature a different "theme", and it will be your job to find a historical or present-day person that fits into that category.

Here's the idea: you'll have a look at your assigned partners profile to get a sense of who they are and what interests them. You'll then choose a postcard based on their profile (this postcard may or may not have anything to do with the person that you choose to research/ write about, it's completely up to you). Next, you'll search for information on a person who fits into this months theme. An example of this might be: if this month the theme is "inventors", you might choose to research Mary Phelps Jacob (who lived from 1891 to 1970), and who is credited with inventing the modern bra in 1913. You might then mention that she sold the patent to Warner for only $1,500, or you might even mention what her original invention was made of (two pink handkerchiefs and a ribbon). You might include other facts about her as a person, her background, etc-- basically anything that you dig up that is interesting to you. :)

I will be checking participants profiles and ratings thoroughly before assigning partners; if you are currently showing as late on any swaps I will request that you follow through on those before participating in this swap. Similarly, if you have a 1 rating and have not made an effort to follow through on the swap owing to your partner (especially if they are still an active member of the site), I will likely ask that you do this before participating in any of my swaps.
