TCH: Survival Lady - Power Outage

Welcome to a new swap that I may host monthly if there is an interest. I haven't seen a swap quite like this one, so I'm not quite sure how it will go over.

This swap is all about survival: surviving a power outage or car trouble or the end of the world as we know it. No, we won't be making an underground bunker or stockpiling. This is on a smaller level.

Each month we will have a theme. May's theme is "Power Outage". Yesterday our power went out for several hours and I wish I would have been more prepared. "Where is that flash light?" I was asking. This swap will be to help motivate us to be more prepared for things. In the world we live in, you never know...

Each swap will also be different. Some you will simply write a letter or send a picture of how you prepared for the theme. Other swaps you will send an item that you made or bought. We will also be making "Survival Lady" cards. They will be full of tips, encouragement, Bible verses, prayers...

This month our theme is Power Outage. You will create your own power outage box filled with all the items you believe you would need if there was a power outage. Things like flashlights, paper plates, napkins, candles, matches... And don't forget the batteries! You will take a picture of your power outage box and send it along with a letter to your partner. (Letters may be written or typed.) In the letter, write what you included in the box and why. How did you personalize it? Games for the kiddos? A new book for you to read? Is there something you couldn't fit in the box, but now have in a convenient place. For example, I will need to store my heater buddy in an easy to access place for winter power outages.

You will also make 3 Survival Lady cards. Use 3x5 index cards. On one side write "Survival Lady". You can write, type, use stickers... Add a little decoration. On the other side of the card you will be writing the following:

Card #1 - a Bible verse

Card #2 - power outage tips

Card #3 - sender's choice (more tips, a prayer, quote, statistics, a joke...)

Next time the power is out, whether it be for a few hours or several days, we will be prepared. We will only need to retrieve our Power Outage box.

What to send:

• 1 Power Outage letter

• 1 picture of your Power Outage Box

• 3 Survival Lady cards (1 with a Bible verse, 1 with power outage tips, and 1 sender's choice)
