Description:

I have lusted for quite some time after the Harry Potter artefact boxes for sale online. They are a bit pricey, but how neat would it be to have some of these items? Then I realized many of the items could be handmade, plus a bunch more that Warner Brothers doesn't even offer! So I decided to start a series here.

Swap Series Info: For each swap, we'll make a different item. If there's enough interest, I'll keep going with lots of different items from different characters, until we have a nice collection. You can build your own box to keep them in or just join for the swaps you're interested in and have the items on their own. We'll do catch-up swaps periodically for anyone who missed an item.

This Swap: Create a bit of floo powder for your partner in an interesting, small container.

  • Floo powder: You could use sand, glitter, spices, flour, etc. but please take care to observe your partner's allergies and country's mailing restrictions (don't send flour if your partner is allergic to it or it can't go through customs as a food item, for example).
  • Decorated container: you could use a tiny decorated envelope, a small bottle, a tiny flower pot, a small box. Remember, the idea is for all of these items to go into a bigger artifact box about the size of a cigar box, so don't make your item too large!

Please make it look as authentic as possible! But that doesn't mean you can't be creative. You could slap a Department of Magical Transportation Ministry of Magic label on the package or a seal of approval from the Floo Network Authority. You could decorate the container with a map or list of network locations.

No flaking, but I will angel if needed.

Next up: Chocolate bar wrapper (HP3)

I love this idea! I have my hands full right now but I will be watching for others in the future

I have no idea how large a cigar box is? Can you give a suggestion for the size of small bottle, pot or box etc to be made for this swap?

KateKintail 08/10/2014 #

@LittleRed It will be different for everyone, but I would say an envelope no larger than an ATC sleeve or an item not much larger than 1 inch by 3 inches.

I love this idea! I love all things potter AND I love the idea of a box of artifacts. Have you done other swaps like this? I would love to get caught up. Soooo excited!

@imakebelieve This is the second in the series. I think I'll do one for each book and then a make-up swap for anyone who missed one. Then I'll restart with HP1 for a new series of different items (if there's still interest).

Oh, no! What a shame I missed this series beginning! What was the first swap, could someone give me a link for it, please?

KateKintail 08/20/2014 #

Sorry you missed it, @Salome The first swap was Hogwarts Acceptance Letter. The third swap should be up around August 27 (just before this swap's send date).
