Description:

Here is a fun way to use up some of your little bits and pieces of tape.

  • Cut out a simple fish shape on a piece of plain white card stock. It needs to be a bit sturdier than copy paper, and you want white so the color beneath the tape won't show through.

  • Size can be as large or small as you like as long as it can fit into an envelope to mail it.

  • Tear pieces of washi tape and make "scales" from the tail to the nose, using gradients of the same color or different colors along the way.

  • Add an eye to the fish with either washi tape or something else flat that won't come off in the mail.

  • Trim the edges of tape that hang off, or else fold them under so they are stuck to the back of the fish. Make him neat and tidy. :)

  • Write your name, date and swap name on the back

  • Send your fish on time and rate promptly when yours arrives.

You can use your fishy for a book mark or inspiration board or ... whatever. I have mine in a Mail Art Junk Journal. If there is enough interest, I will host swaps for other critters.

If you want to make your fish more elaborate, you can do so. I kept the plan as simple as possible for the basic requirements, but if you have more cutting skills, please feel free... I am imagining a beautiful Koi with flowing tail... :)

this is a really cute idea! sadly this swap is during restaurant week (AKA Hell week) for those restaurant warriors :( I may join if I can knock this out before the swap comes around :) Thanks again for hosting!
