1 partner and this swap is international :)

grab some childrens books. they could be vintage, modern, classics, cartoon, any theme goes.

make & create your partner an envelope; you'll be using this envelope to stamp, address & send your swap inside of so this is the envelope you'll be using. add collage, stickers, washi tape etc or keep it simple. please make sure you reinforce the sides with sellotape.

inside your envelope include a minimum of 3 handmade envelopes from childrens books. any size, shape, colour, etc goes. my advice would be not to include 3 tiny tiny envelopes... think variety. ;)

you may use a template to make your envelopes or simply fold a book page in half, tape the sides and make a fold at the top for a flap. whatever you do, please do your best efforts.

when you receive your envelopes you may recycle them again, use them, mail art them, decorate them, use them or swap them. have fun!

include a note for your swap partner which says the swap and your username. if you're interested in more childrens theme swaps, head over to my swap Sealed with love; We have regular childrens theme swaps like mail art, ATC's, etc.

No newbies, sorry, and no recent and unresolved 3 or 1's. I ban within reason.

Maybe I am alone and really off base but is this the best use for children's books? Should they be recycled by giving them to children who don't necessarily have access to books. I would think donating them to a school library, hospital or shelter would be better recycling project than ripping them up and using them for envelops and other things. Just my opinion. Just sharing my thoughts.

I agree with @jules but I have plenty of books that haven't made it through three kids. The bindings are falling apart, covers or pages are missing so maybe use those. Ask at a school or library and they probably have some.

Just a note. On the side bar, the title is too long to see the whole thing. I had to click on a swap that starts "Recyle Those Childr..."! Haa haa haa!!! I have three kids I wish I could recycle some days!!!

Many children's books are too damaged to be read, and some are in such poor condition that they will be refused by hospitals, schools, etc. I don't have a problem with using them as craft supplies.

Such a shame to destroy children's books. 💔 What about printables?

My daughter is great for damaging books. Even telling her not to do it isn't good right now. All kinds of things can get onto books, and you realize you cannot donate these books well, so this is a good way of recycling the books.

@jules4534 it's a hobby of mine, i'm sorry you don't approve. i collect and recycle all types of books; childrens, vintage, history, poetry. i use them for ATC's, making envelopes, mail art, collage. this swap is for people who also do that.

@chelseadagger is it a shame to damage any book, to take the page out and swap it/collect it? mostly all vintage ephemera that is old book pages have been ripped out of books/magazines/albums and are recycled into using for craft supplies. it surprises me every one is suddenly all against doing this with childrens books when they are just another supply you can use to do that, if you wish. some people collect them, like me. i am happy to make, and receive anything children-book related, just like any other sort of book ephemera. it's just another thing that people collect and do... can't you respect that? it's not about damaging or destroying anything...

I do grab up old children's books from garage sales and library sales for a quarter... most pages are colored on... so i use the other pages for things like this... and to create punches sometimes! I kind of feel that these would normally be thrown away. (I'll admit to even digging them out of the trash... clean, but in trash...) But I do respect everyone's opinion here... I'm against food being used as art content for children... esp when there are starving children everywhere... my little bro brought home a pretzel log cabin of Abe Lincoln's house, and I'm the one (not my parents) who returned it to the teacher with a note saying that we would supply alternate materials (with her approval) for the whole class... like sticks!!!! Omg. Sorry... off topic... lol:) Just another example.
