Description:

I just had a random idea.

I wonder how many postal carriers out there read our postcards. So let's do an experiment and you'll send one postcard to your one partner and put a note to the postal carrier on it!

Something along the lines of: "Dear Postal Workers, We're doing an experiment to see if this card is read by postal workers! Put a smiley face here if you've read this!!"

So that way we can see if they read it! You can be more creative in your message, but try to incorporate a way for them to say if they've read it! :D

Postcards are senders choice!

I LOVE this

What a fun idea for a swap!

CariPeace 04/28/2015 #

This IS a wonderful idea! I love experiments like this. ~ Very cool.

I think I might add, 'for every postal worker who reads this, please put a smiley face below.' ~ then leave enough room for several people who might read it along it's journey, that are postal workers. It might even be fun to know where in the world they are, too. :-)

vedalovelo 04/28/2015 #

Wow! Love it!

Apelser 04/29/2015 #

Great idea!!!

squince 04/29/2015 #

I'm so glad it's so well-received! Good idea Cari Peace!

Someone is going to do a U.S. version, so sign up for it if you see it! :)

I think I'll make this a regular swap of mine!

squince 04/29/2015 #

Please share what you plan to write so that when I do a new one, I can include the ideas!

squince 04/29/2015 #

One more thing, when you leave feedback, let the person know if there was any response. It would also be fabulous if you came back here and commented so we could all see what happens!

ktina 04/29/2015 #

I think my postcard will arrive without the smiley face...I don't think my postal workers understand English :)

leahjett 04/30/2015 #

wouldn't it be against the law for posty people to read others mail?

squince 04/30/2015 #

^That's why I'm not having them initial or anything... But I would imagine some might skim a postcard here and there :)

CariPeace 05/ 2/2015 #

Thanks, Squince, I'm glad you like it. I also like your other added ideas about this with feedback and commenting here, too.

Leahjett, from what I was told by a postal carrier once, if it's on a postcard, then it's not against the law for anyone to read it; because it's out there, open in the the public for anyones eyes to read that may come across it. Therefore, only packaged / enveloped items are illegal to read by someone other than the addressed recipient.

sassafrass 05/10/2015 #

agree @CariPeace There is really no expectation of privacy, unlike when you put something in a package or envelope.

Great swap!

RatsAndRags 05/11/2015 #

Suppose the post handlers do read the PCs but don't leave their mark because they don't want to make it seem like they're prying?

swededreams 05/11/2015 #

As a postal carrier I do sometimes read them. Most aren't very exciting but it is interesting to see where people travel etc.

We aren't allowed to mark up the mail unless it is officially. But I would think that if there was a request to mark it I would do so :) But then I am fun like that ha ha. So this will be fun to see if it works.

pne 05/11/2015 #

Perhaps those who live in a country where English is not an official language can contact their partners (who will send to them) to provide a native language translation :)

Jannified 05/11/2015 #

Hello All!

This is interesting... the date line is finally here! So so so.. what shall we write on our postcards? I would call them Postman / Postwoman though. Let's share opinions (:

squince 05/11/2015 #

Well, as a first time doing this swap. Let's just see how it goes and if it's worthwhile to do another! If all else fails and we get nothing, you still get a postcard out of the deal. :)

squince 05/11/2015 #

And WOW! I just realized we're #9 on the Top swaps list! I've never had a top 10-er before! :D

art3osb 05/11/2015 #

I'd like USA version done. Question: Is there just suppose to be a note to the postal carrier or a note for partner + postal carrier?

squince 05/12/2015 #

^There is a US one created by someone else.

And I would say main note is to postage carrier, but also include the swap name and your username and if room, maybe a little hello to your partner but not necessary.

Jenna91 05/17/2015 #

Aww, I received the card for this swap without a single smiley face. Though it was a fun experiment!
