Description:

If you have a hard time making time to journal, if you feel your journaling falls flat from lack of ideas, or if you want to share your journaling with other people without losing your work- this is your swap. Stay here, keep reading.

For this swap you will be journaling on a set prompt (below). You can use a journal you have going, a new journal just for these swaps, or pages of loose paper. (or napkins, or fabric, or digital stuff- it really doesn't matter.) Because you keep what you make.
You will be sending your partner a photocopy (or printed photograph, or printout) of your journal page.

It's that simple. Journal your response to the prompt. Do your best to make it nice (both for your journal and your partner) and then produce a copy and mail it off.

Copies can be made in black and white. Work can be done in any medium. It doesn't have to be perfect (misspellings and scribbles are ok sometimes) but it needs to be presentable. Be on your best journaling behavior.

Please include your swap bot name and the swap on the back of your photocopy.

If you are going to late send please contact me at the very least and I will contact your partner. If I have to hunt you down for not marking sent by the day after the swap without good reason you will be put on probation from my swaps until I hate you less.

Mandatory: So I can ensure the rules have been read, please comment on whether or not you are a morning person.

Journal Prompt

Set a timer for 10 minutes. Write down every single thought that pops into your head.
After your 10 minutes are up, pick a few of your favorite thoughts to embellish (with pens, a doodle border, colored pencil background- etc).

I highly suggest writing something like "10 Minutes of Thoughts" or "What's on my Mind" as a title somewhere on your journal page. It looks nice.

and yes, this is part of a series.

I am... maybe a little bit, but I don't want to admit it.

I am so not a morning person. The only reason I am up at 2 AM is because I haven't gone to bed yet. I also love the idea of keeping what we make and just sending a nice photo copy to people.

oblivionspin 05/22/2015 #

@cynaemon lol about 2 am. Most of the sunrises I have witnessed are because I haven't slept yet, I flop around.

I am glad you like the idea! I like the idea of shared journals, and have done a few successfully, but it gets cost prohibitive, it is a huge commitment, a fairly large risk, and to me a bit of a loss to give away all the journaling I did. But I love sharing my work and seeing other peoples' takes on prompts.

Since I am a writer mine is more likely to be a story than just random thoughts. Hope that is okay.

oblivionspin 05/23/2015 #

That is fine, just whatever comes into your head in 10 minutes, be it bursts, stream of consciousness or even some prose. As long as you do the prompt, what comes out of it is all you!

oblivionspin 05/23/2015 #

(To elaborate further, the main point is 10 minutes uninterrupted writing without stopping to critique or think about what to say. If in the middle of writing a story you wondered what was for dinner you'd write that too.)

edit send by date and sign up date have both been extended.

I am NOT a morning person. I am excited about this swap! My creative writing teacher used to makes us do this at the beginning of every class. It really helps to jumpstart creativity!

I am Not a morning person at all. This sounds like such an interesting swap.

Robinarie 05/27/2015 #

11:00 am? Then yes, I am a morning person.

oblivionspin 05/27/2015 #

So I take it we won't be seeing a lot of thoughts about how beautiful the sunrise is in this swap ;)

breathingoxygen 05/28/2015 #

I am a morning person - I get up at 5 AM every day. But, I have a 3.5 year old who is very attention-intensive, so it's the only time I get to myself. I'll write about the sunrise...or caffeine.

oblivionspin 05/28/2015 #

Note: Profiles will be double checked and partners assigned sometime tomorrow morning, early afternoon ish. And yes, I do remove people who fail to answer the mandatory question in the comments. ;)

ChelleHames 05/28/2015 #

I absoutely am not a morning person! I have always been a night owl! I'm also not much of a journaler (I always have good intentions to be), but this sounds like just the thing to get me started!
