Description:

I am officially in love with Doll Quilts. If you are crazy over these little sweet examples of quilting, this is the swap for you!

This is a swap for those quilters or sewers that would like to make a small doll quilt.

If you have no idea what a doll quilt is, take a look on google or flickr. Type in doll quilts and search images.

These will be cherished by their recipient so please be sure to be careful and caring in your creation of your doll quilt. These should be made with high quality materials so they have some useful life to them.

I am leaving 5 weeks in between sign up and due date so that all participants will have time to complete their quilts.

GUIDELINES * Size: from 12″ x 12″ up to 24″ x 24″ in the shape of rectangle or square. * Construction: Pieced, appliqued, whole-cloth, or yo-yos; quilted by hand or machine; and bound. Embellish at will. Embroidery? Rickrack? Buttons? None? You decide. Fabrics: Let’s do cotton, please. No flannel or other fabric content. Plan on finishing your quilt with a binding that covers the top, batting, and bottom pieces of your quilt edges.

Plan to spend about $12-$15 on the project for your swap partner. Please check their profile for fabric designers or styles that they like!

Since this is a swap with both creative energy, time, and money involved, only participants with a 4.8 rating or higher will be allowed. No no-sends in the last 6 months. Newbies welcome with a fully completed profile - everyone needs to start somewhere. This will be United States only.

Please rate your partner accordingly. When you receive your swap, rating them is a great way to let them know you received it.

If you do not plan on sending, this is not the swap for you. Any questions, please ask!

If someone does not participate in the swap, please let me know so I can coordinate an 'angel' swapper to take their place.

Thanks for joining and lets have some fun! Happy Swapping!

What works best for batting on these? Can I just use regular batting??? Or maybe felt? I don;t want it to end up too thick

Hi! I would recommend using a batting in the craft size which is generally 36 inches square. That means you'll have less to waste when you cut it down. Also, I would recommend using a 80% cotton / 20% polyester blend, it has a thin bulk to it. It is almost like a soft felt. If you can't do that, I think felt would be a great creative alternative. I've also used a few sheets (to my desired weight) of cotton flannel as the batting. Hope that helps!

Hi - I usually just use regular batting as I like the fluffier look...

I am so excited I just finished my quilt for the swap last night!
