Faux Postage Cinderella: Ditch that shoe!

Let’s create a sheet of faux postage stamps with the theme of either shoes or damsels [in distress?]. Shoot for 10 stamps—you can do the math and decide how big you want your stamps to be, keeping in mind that most legitimate stamps are no bigger than 2X2 inches. You can make a sheet all the same or create a variety on each tiny canvas. Your design[s] may be deliberately realistic, or obviously silly and fake.

Since many contemporary stamps do not include perforations, these are optional. So too is gummed paper or sticky backs. I want you to enjoy the process and not freak out about getting the proper back.

Print your postage on nice paper and cut out one stamp to put on your envelope next to the regular postage. See if you can get it cancelled! It’s legal in the US to place faux stamps right next to the bona fide postage, but check the legalities for your country. Include a short note describing your process or listing the fonts you might have used or just offer a hearty hello.

There are many sites online with examples and techniques for making Faux Postage. Artistamps, Cinderellas, and Postoids are other names for the same thing.
