Description:

This is an easy, fun swap.

  • Start with a note card, used or new. It can be blank inside or have a greeting.
  • Tape 2 sides of the card closed. These 2 sides, along with the natural fold, will leave one side open. It will either be the top or the bottom depending on the card orientation). This creates the pocket.
  • Into the pocket put some papery items from your stash (stickers, pretty papers, recipes, punch-outs or die-cuts, decorative tape samples, a note card, post-its, etc.). It’s always nice to check your partner’s profile to see what you have that they might enjoy. Also add a little happy note telling about your day - please add more than "here is the swap."
  • Aim for making it a little puffy (one to two stamps worth).
  • Tape the pocket closed. This sealed card pocket will be sent “naked” (no envelope) through the mail.
  • Address the plain side, add appropriate postage (see note below), and mail it off to your partner to brighten their day.

Note: For USA participants, please read the "IMPORTANT POSTAL INFORMATION FOR SENDING MAIL WITHIN THE USA" information on my profile.

Lastly, anyone can join. Flakers have no place in this group and will be dealt with accordingly. Please play nice.

P.S. Please see the helpful tips below in the comments section, including the one about about using a see-through plastic pocket or bag. :)

Stuffed notecard, love it!!

Just a thought, but a lot of cards don't have a plain side, they sometimes have the makers of the card logo. How do we address them, stick on a piece of plain paper? or maybe buy the postage online.

Just adding my 2 cents worth about tape. Cheap tape will often lift very easily when only slightly damp. I have received mail in the past that has the tape lifted and rolled up in a squiggly mess ( It arrived in a PO body bag ). If you are relying on the tape to keep it closed it may be advisable to wrap the card right around north/south and east/west as well as securing the edges.

@tigerlily2110 it's okay if the card-maker's logo shows on the back side of the card. Somewhere on the back side, either write your partner's name directly on the card, or on a label you stick on the card. Does this help?

@whisperwings thanks for your 2 cents about securely fastening the edges of the card; I'll remember to do that.

Would it be okay to put it in a plastic pocket (comletely transparent) if you're afraid it'll break open in the mail?

ArtyBeth3 04/16/2016 #

@loveualatte that would be fine to use a see-through plastic pocket or bag. That's actually a great idea and I have some that would work. Thanks! :)

Here's hoping this popular swap will be one in a continuing series -- easy and fun! Great it's international, too -- never know what may turn up in your mailbox!

I like the idea of the transparent pocket, it would make it safer.

thanks @ArtyBeth3 going to use a Royal Mail sticker.
