2 Questions: What are ATC jams? and Is modeling paste Mod Podge?

ATC jams are created when multiple people contribute to one ATC.. there is a group called ATC Jams.. LOVE that group : )

Modeling paste is a thicker medium that allows you to create texture through stencils and build layers. It gives your cards raised details.

and texture, the goal for the modeling paste card is to create a highly textured card using a stencil or other tools to create a pattern.

You can achieve this with other materials like Spackle or dry wall mud.. feel free to use what you have so long as a highly textured card with varied pattern is produced.

This is a great idea and I can't wait to get started on my ATCs!! Thank you for hosting this :D

@scrappermama so tell me about the lovely metallic background that you used on the ATC that you sent me.

did you make the background or is it from a sheet that you purchased??

I absolutely love it and my inquiring mind wants to know : )

Lol! Judged....the background is made by putting some aluminum tape together, then I used T.H. folder to emboss, painted it black, let dry & then wiped away paint

I started making my ATCs yesterday and it's so much fun! I like the themes you picked @judgedbyabookscover ! :)

@Srappermama .. LOVES IT, I hope you don't mind if I try it out, although I have no aluminum tape and have no idea where to find it, and I have no folder either..baa ha haaaa so I guess I won't be trying it out : (

@80sgirl I'm glad your enjoying time here. I aim to please. The themes will evolve each round, but there are a few that will stay the course because I love them and they offer a great variety for expansion.

I am thinking of adding participant pick a theme, my mystery item, cardboard box only, washi tape and a couple others next round : )

If you thought about creating an ATC design using only one item, that wasn't a writing/coloring utensil, or paper, what would you use??

I was so excited when I went to Goodwill yesterda cause I found a Alice in Wonderland book from1958! Great old illustrations that I'm gonna use on my cards :D

@80sgirl . LOVE, LOVE, LOVE thifting.. it's totally my thing. I haven't been able to go lately which is a total bummer but none the less I have so many great finds around my house now that i'm not to torn up..lol

OK LADIES!! I've gone through the profiles, partners are being assigned.

New comers "no offense" but, PLEASE< PLEASE< PLEASE put your best foot forward here. Throw some recycled paper on the backs of your cards to make them a bit stiffer if your in doubt. If you fall behind reach out to me, if you get lost for ideas reach out to me, if you just say to hell with the swap reach out to me. I want this swap to continue to be great, and I want to keep this swap going, but I can't do that without you gals offering up your best work so please 2.5 x 3.5 cards, quality work, sturdy backing, varied techniques. Without these components your partner can rate you a 3 and we don't want that. SOOO GO, throw paint, burn stuff, rip s$@%, have a f#$%^&g blast...lol.. that's my philosophy anyway!

Fabric is a fun item to use for ATC building. Canvas paper? Haha. Would that even count?

@judgedbyabookscover In case someone flakes I could help to angel. I promise, I make sturdy, high quality cards :)

Thus far we've only had great success IMO... so i'm going to keep riding that train till it derails

Sounds good :) I've been making cards non stop since 6am lol it's an addiction. I also made a few double just in case.

I feel you.. When i'm in, i'm in... I usually do 1 or 2 batches in a sitting just because the inspiration is there...

I always work in batches of 5-6 at a time

Ive decided one of my free choice cards are going to be profile based! Woop woop!

In this swap I try to match up my cards with profiles. I know that sometimes my cards are a bit of the mark but Hey I do my best : )

This past weekend I created a HUGE 12 sheet masterboard that yielded 120 ATC backgounds, I was going to send them all to the ATC Jam group members.. lol.. but I snatched a batch for this swap : )

I can't wait to see how these backgrounds evolve for this swap

I'm still fairly new to ATCs but just since last round I've learned a ton of new techniques by watching countless YouTube videos. This swap has really inspired me to branch out, try new things, and get better at making ATCs. Also, the categories force me to try new things as well, so I appreciate that there's always different themes. This time around I have a ton of new Tim Holtz supplies and after an hour of work I finally completed my first Tim Holtz ATC. Yay! This is so much fun. Thanks a bunch for hosting a swap that pushes my creativity!

My main goal is to test limits and try new things. The greatest thing about art (IMO) is that it isn't perfect. One major obstacle that i had to overcome was the need for every single piece to be aligned "perfectly" I would spend days re-sticking stuff and trimming and aligning till I realized that I had ruined a "perfect" piece trying to make it "perfect"

Tim Holtz has some great stuff, I do love his line, but I also try to live outside of the everyday. I try to work with scraps, recycled papers, vintage strangeness, random images to create a look.

I am by no means and expert .. lol.. I just have fun, and do my best Yes I want to produce cards that others will enjoy but at the end of the day I won't send something that I don't love
