Description:

Spool block quilts have always drawn my attention and I have come across a tutorial that uses scraps, so hurrah!

The tutorial is found at: https://weddingdressblue.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/tutorial-spool-shuffle-quilt/

I would like to host a 5 month swap, this is the second month.

Quilters would make 2 spool blocks of any color. The thread of the spool can be made from your skinny fabric strips, one piece of fabric or from selvedge edges. For the background I thought we could stick to a cream or white so when the blocks are sewn together it creates a soft scrappy background.

I hope there are other quilters who like spool quilts.

Just 2 blocks of any color with white or cream background made by following the tutorial listed above. Each month there will only be one partner to send to.

So the finished blocks should be 4 1/2 x 5 1/2? And does the background/spool need to be a solid or can I use a print on print?

@HeideC it can be a print that is on white or cream colored fabric. Yes, the block finishes like you said.
