Um, I was looking at this and thought I should say something. Apparently, we can't send coffee internationally. My swap partner in another swap recently wanted to send me coffee and the customs stopped the package. They said that the fragrance of the coffee can be used to mask drugs.

Hi lyn+florspace, I'v just been and had a good sniff at the foil packet of "Italian Espresso Style" coffee bag I have and there is realy no smell to speak of and when in an envlope and with ATC how would customs know it was even thers. As with tea bag and ATC there is no need to do a customs delaration if it is in a standard envelope. I have taken part in a few of these tea swaps and with a magazine page and there have nver been a problem with them comming to New Zealand in the past. Even one swapper knew I loved a cirtain harbal tea and sent me a whoe box and that did need a customs slip but still no problems. I hope that's a help.

I have some packets of cappuccino here at home, and you can't smell anything (they must be vacuum sealed). I think you're absolutely right about coffee, but the instant cappuccino should be fine. :)

so we should go with instant type coffee or tea then? okie dokie!

Here in the States we have small packets of instant cappuccino, with brand names like Land o' Lakes or International Coffees. Do you have things like this in Europe? They look like "hot chocolate" packets that are individually sized.

we do have similar things here, i just found some today, the variety is not as in the u.s.....i think because europeans have really good coffee everywhere and they go have coffee all the time!! hihih something i really enjoy being an american living overseas...

it does not however make for a super selection in the grocerystore though....but it for sure exists!

ooh my what was the instant coffee in the u.s. in the rectangle can? my favorite used to be called cafe francais....wow flashback....:)

We have the same type of thing in New Zealand, the one I use on picnics is a mix of real and instant coffee.

I believe you're referring to "General Foods International Coffees" - sing it with me - "Celebrate the Moments of your Liiiife!" :)

The one we get here in N.Z. is put out by Robert Timms, and comes in several styles, I buy the Italian Espresso style. That is the one I will be sending unless my partner would rather have something different as I can get the capppuccinos if thay would rather.

I'm interested in trying anything, so long as it isn't chocolate-orange flavored.

I'm really psyched to possibly get some 'overseas' stuff, because then I can reuse the packaging in my ATCs! :) (I still will, even if it's from the States!)

Is swap-bot being funky again, and that's why we haven't seen our partners yet? I know it's been acting up lately for a lot of swaps.
