Description:

This is a swap based on elizabeth4510's original mini wishlist swap (thank you, elizabeth4510! :D), except that it's private, to hopefully cut down on the flakers. This swap is geared toward people who participated in the first Mini Wishlist swap, but if someone sends you to this page because you participated successfully in another wishlist-type swap in the past, you're welcome, too, as long as you, too, can show markers of reliability. ;D

Yes! Because we're trying to weed out flakers from the start, to get the password for this swap, please do one of these things:

  • if you have positive feedback from your Mini Wishlist 1 partner, private message me letting me know;
  • if your Mini Wishlist 1 partner hasn't left feedback, but did post in the Mini Wishlist comments board that they received the swap, send me a private message telling me that, and include your partner's Swapbot name;
  • if you sent a Mini Wishlist package and your partner didn't leave feedback or a confirmation on the comments board, but you've been posting comments, drop me a note that says that. I'll have to take your word for it that you did send, of course, but if your profile shows you're reliable, there's no reason to think you're lying. ;)

I'll be checking profiles and comments as the private messages come in. Sorry to make you go through the effort of PMing me to get the password, but it's easier on me than making a big list of everyone's names and doing all the cross-checking by myself at once. ;)

To get more participants in this swap, please feel free to invite your previous Mini Wishlist partner, or other swap partners you've had good experiences with on wishlist-type swaps. :D If you had a not-so-good experience with someone on a wishlist-type swap, especially the last Mini Wishlist, let me know.

Now, on to the Official Mini Wishlist 2 rules:

  • Make and post a list of at least 10 small, cheap items you'd love to receive. Each item should cost $5 or less -- or even be free! (Ooh, I wonder how a Mini Free Stuff Wishlist swap would work. ;)) Be nice, and include at least five easily findable items. You can certainly include obscure, hard to find things, but don't make your partner have to order all your stuff online. The point is to not make them spend a lot of money. ;)
  • When partners are assigned, look up your partner's list, and pick five or more items to send. You'll be surprised, but you'll also get items you want, and no one has to spend tons of money, so everyone wins!

That's it! The signup deadline for this is relatively close, because this is a private swap and we're not trolling for swappers on the public swap list ... but the send-by deadline is in mid-May. That way we all have tons of time to put together our packages and get them sent "early," and to get all the kinks ironed out here on the comments board. If you think the deadline should be extended, let me know.

Did I miss anything? ;D

(And hey, does anyone have any interest in having a Mini Wishlist Yahoogroup or community blog?)

VelveteenRabbit 03/19/2007 #

Yay! This is the first private swap I'm participating in. Just today I got my package from the original mini wishlist swap (a wonderful package) and I feel so inspired! The late send date is actually cool -- we can really put together nice packages without the stress of rushing... plus you never know when you're going to get your own package!

Thanks for organizing this, JeweledClaws. Here's my wishlist:

  1. Fun/unique office supplies (e.g. clips, post-its, push pins, labels)
  2. Fabric (especially colourful, cheery quilt material)
  3. Ribbon (especially velvet or grosgrain) and trims (I'm starting to crave rick rack)
  4. Note cards or greeting cards
  5. Chewy candies and caramels
  6. Anything with inspirational/Christian messages/quote (e.g. bookmarks, stickers, cards, magnets)
  7. Anything personalized with my name or monogram (A)
  8. Anything with images of gerbera daisies, giraffes or cuddly bunnies :)
  9. Anything related to writing (I'm a professional writer)
  10. Anything Mary Engelbreit

Hopefully the last five "items" are broad enough to give my partner some room to play. :)

Thanks in advance! c" \

Ewwww... you want "old" candy, Elizabeth? :P

;)

KarlaKC 03/19/2007 #

Thank you for the invite, Crystal! This is also my first private swap, VelveteenRabbit, and I'm excited at the prospect of having a smooth swap.

I did send in Elizabeth's Mini-Wishlist Swap, but my partner didn't like what I sent though I felt I sent her great items according to her short wishlist. I'm glad to see one of the requirements is to send a list to the group of at least 10 items we "wish" for (so we can list more...) This will help partners have a good selection to choose from for their assigned partners. Here's my list!

  1. YARN AND THREADS - I love to crochet and knit
  2. STATIONERY (paper, envelopes, notecards, etc.) - I love to write letters and notes
  3. PENS - pretty, fun, unusual (not cartoon character pens, but love feathery pens)
  4. STICKERS (love anything with sheep, green frogs, butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, flowers, rainbows, hearts, girly)
  5. ORNAMENTAL DECORATIONS - anything small with ribbons or beads or ladybugs, dragonflies, sheep, flowers, etc.
  6. OFFICE SUPPLIES - unique post-its (or regular ones, too), pens, pencils, erasers, clips, markers, highlighters, notepads, paper, CDs, etc.
  7. PAPERBACK BOOKS (like to read Christian fiction -not romance - biographies, mysteries, any story that has yarn in the storyline! haha!)
  8. PUZZLE BOOKS - like to do pencil puzzles, logic puzzles, anagrams, crosswords, sudoku, any sort of Variety Puzzles
  9. JIGSAW PUZZLES!
  10. Unique PLAYING CARDS
  11. Anything PINK or LAVENDER to adorn myself in for my Red Hatter Group (I wear pink and lavender instead of red and purple since I'm not 50 yet.)
  12. MAGAZINES - I love anything to do with crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, teacups/teapots (like TeaTime Magazine)...
  13. BASKETS - for functional decoration
  14. CANDLES - flowery scents (esp. Peony), apple/cinnamon, baked pie scents

Ok, I'll stop there. I think that's plenty of ideas to choose from for my partner.

wolfmom2ac 03/19/2007 #

user960 03/20/2007 #

I love looking at people's wishlists. ;D They have all this fun stuff on them -- it makes me want to send everyone something. ;) Still pondering mine ... I'll post it when I have at least ten items.

rhodyart 03/20/2007 #

Let's see what would I like. I want to say FIRST--NO FOOD at all. NO scented items AT ALL. NO JEWELRY at all. My body is going thru metabolism changes for some weird reason and I'm developing allergies to things I never used to be allergic to.

I got an OK bunch of stuff from my partner--I don't know if my partner liked what I sent but I tried to make sure I sent things she'd like.

Now to what I do want: 1. Scotch Double Sided tape 2. new unused viewcards from where you live 3. good quality colored markers (unscented please) 4. interesting looking notecards (not cutesy please) 5. ribbon, ribbon, and more ribbon 6. buttons, buttons, and more buttons--especially strange patterned or colored 7. something unique from where you live (for ex, I might send you a small bottle of coffee syrup from Rhode Island) 8. a collection of ephemera (ie ticket stubs, lotto tix, flyers, pamphlets, local newspaper clippings/photos) from where you live--even tourist info, restaurant menus 9. interesting paper (no cutesy) 10. fabric scraps 11. I also like craft embellisments like brads, but no eyelets please 12. and I do like funky socks--but no black or stuff that says things like "diva girl" -- ie something I can wear to work and not worry about offending someone

I hope I'm not too picky--who ever my partner is should feel free to email me and ask for guidance if need be

Kimmie, I just read your list and was thinking that a couple of your items are very specific and might be hard for your partner to find. (I wouldn't know where (or wouldn't easily be able) to get #1, #2, #4, #5, #6, #7, and #9). Could you maybe add a couple of more general items, just in case someone like me gets your name, please? :)

Okay, I've clicked the "assign partners" button even though three people haven't posted their wishlists, on the hazard that they'll do it soon. I've sent messages to them all, and if I don't hear from them in a week or so, I'll make arrangements. (All the people who haven't posted theirs yet have great ratings, and fairly recent ones, so I'm sure if they're out of contact, they have some sort of valid reason. ;)) Feel free to pester your partners (...nicely...) yourself, if you get assigned to one of the people whose wishlist isn't up yet.

Happy swapping! :D
