Description:

I totally do not mean to "segregate" or "pigeonhole" women authors. This is just - my whim.

For this challenge, we will simply read a book written by an author from the chosen country, & mandatorily choose a woman author. Simple.

This book can be in any genre, including non-ficion, but excluding "instrucionals" such as "self-improvement & cookbooks. This book can be in any language, & written at any point in history.

The swap must be in English, & briefly consist of :

  • Title & author of the book you read

  • Why did you choose this book?

  • A brief summary of the book

  • A brief review--what did you think of it?

  • Did you find any special "country-based" features in the book? In the language, in the choice of subject, in the treatment of subject?

  • Did you find a special "woman's touch"? Was it a good or a bad thing?

  • Did you learn something (anything) new?

Since most of the Swap-Bot members are from the USA, we will come to USA at a later point.

This round's country is Australia.

Those from Australia/ those who have read fab (women) authors from Australia are most welcome to post suggestions in the comments.

3 partners. Manual filtering because within a group. I will definitely check profiles.

I will angel if required.

Is Kate Morton considered an Australian author? her bio states that she lives in London & Australia.

Kate Morton immediately came to my mind, as well. She's Australian born so surely she'd count?

Hannah Kent is Australian- shes awesome! Jane Harper is, and Liane Moriarty is as well

I need to choose my book soon!

Jjean 01/ 9/2019 #

Thank you for the info @USAFwife found 1 by Hannah Kent at our library.......

RooBaRoo 01/10/2019 #

Oh yes, Australian "origin" counts

:)

Thanks @USAwife & @smadronia for the help!

Also, please everyone give suggestions for future countries!

Canada has a few authors I've been meaning to read, or have read and enjoyed. (Louise Penny, Janette Oke)

Iceland has a few authors that are now being translated to English, and they are pretty good. I would assume if books are being translated into English they are becoming more widely available?

Yangsze Choo is Malaysian & Chinese, and has a new book out in February, and one other.
Those are the ones that come to the top of my head. :)

^^ Thanks for the inputs! I asked Stephanie to send out a group SB message. :)

Partners assigned, happy reading!
