Description:

I've seen several excellent Art Journal Swaps, but they send the book all filled in! While that might well make for a great read, I'd like a journal that would inspire me to make my own entries as well.

So, this swap is for a creatively altered composition book, or spiral notebook--whatever you find sparks your creativity most. You will Alter/decorate the cover artistically, and then every 10th page with a drawing, sketch, color wash, or an image from a magazine, or other source, or a brief article about something thought provoking, or creativity-inspiring.

Provocative words cut out of magazines or newspapers, or written in block letters or fancy calligraphy, and some light margin decoration can also be on many of the pages to prompt the journaling of the recipient.

There will be plenty of time to work it up, since there is no need to know your partner's profile beforehand. So go for the best in creative excersie you can to make this journal a thing of beauty and inspiration!

I'll also give 6 weeks between sign up and mailing just to be sure, and to check your partner's profile so you can be sure to avoid including anything that may cause discomfort or offense (like religious or profanity or political leanings). Try to keep them neutrally creativity oriented.

We will have one partner, and the swap is US only, so please keep that in mind when you sign up. If anyone wants to make an international swap, feel free to copy any details you need.

Rated Swappers must have at least 4.8,

Newbies with full profiles who PM me before signing up are welcome, and all participants must have logged into Swap-bot within three days of the sign up date.

Sign up as early as reasonable--Anyone who wishes to sign up within three days before the assignment of partners must PM me to be let in.

If you sign up late and I don't hear from you by the day after the sign up day has passed, I will ban you before assigning partners.

I hate to have to make all these rules, but it seems the only way to try to make it work out well for everyone.

All that heavy stuff done with now, I encourage you to be creative and inspiring to your partner, and to have fun making this journal! Make one that you would love to receive! :)

When you say "most of the pages" is that in reference to the 10th page or put something like that on every page. Unclear...

:) This is going to be fun. I've got a lot of ideas for this journal :)

My thinking on "most of the pages" is that it should just have a minimal bit of words to prompt some journaling on that page, like one word, or a quote or other inspirational tidbit, plenty of room for your partner to write about it, or whatever comes to mind. The tenth pages can be all arted up with paint, collage, whatever, maybe as if it were a chapter separator or something like that--illustration.

I hope this makes it a little more clear.

Real clear Cyn, sound like fun. Will join in to get my creative juices flowing.

Since I will be making my own journal to swap, how many pages are the journals expected to be?

twobluecrows 01/17/2009 #

I have a composition book here that has 100 sheets, and another blank journal also with 100 sheets, so that seems to be a common size. It'll mean 10 fully decorated pages including the Title page. The rest can be mostly left blank with the occasional writing prompt/creativity inspiring image or word and some light margin decorations if you like.

My partner Raggenwood is flaking and I sent to who ever she was to send to.instead of her. I have not heard if she got it from me or not as I sent it March 12th. Can't remember your name but please let me know if you got it.
