Description:

This will be a long term swap to give you lots of time to find and re-read (or listen to) some of your favorite childhood stories. (And, to give me time to move!)

Make a list of some of your favorite childhood books - title and author - and find the book and re-read the book - or, find the audio version of the book and listen to the story.

After you finish revisiting the book, write a few lines about your thoughts. Some possible things to talk about - Did you remember the story as much as you thought you had? Did you find a new meaning from the story? Do you still enjoy the book, or have you 'outgrown' it?

Aim to complete at least 4 books over the next few months, but you can always include more than just the 4. These can be picture books, middle school age, teen/YA types - any book from your childhood that you really enjoyed - or remember really enjoying. :)

Send the list - handwritten or typed - to your partner no later than the send by date.

If you have any questions or comments, please send me a PM and I'll reply as soon as I can. :)

If you wish to list some favorite titles and authors below, please feel free to do so! If there is a lot of interest in the same books, maybe we can work that into a swap in the coming months. :)

EDIT: It was suggested that rather than a letter to your partner, we could create a mini-zine or something similar to share our books and thoughts. If you would rather do this idea, please feel free to do so! But to meet requirements, you only have to send your partner a hand written or typed letter with at least 4 books.

When I was little, I actually didn't like to read. That always surprises people, but it's true. But one book I do remember reading and really enjoying is "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I think it's time to revisit that one, it's been many many years!

Louis Sachar (sp?) Was one of my favorite authors as a kid as was R. L. Stine and Gary Paulson (love Hatchet) . I am definitely going to be revisiting some of their books! Thanks so much for hosting such fun swaps.

I just ordered Hatchet by Gary Paulsen and an 11 book lot of Louis Sachar books. I am so excited to get started.
