4x4 tip in By the Sea

What is a tip in?

Hello Ladydy5. A tip in is a page you can either put into an existing book or your can bind several tip ins together to make a book. In this case, your artwork covers a 4x4 area and the left side of at least a half inch is left blank so you can put in staples, ribbons, brads, whatever to make a book. does this explain it.

Sounds fun, I've never done this so a few more questions so I don't upset my future partner...what type of material, cardstock, canvas paper, chipboard? Also since it's for a book, do you do each side? Do you put anything on it like you do on the back of an ATC? Should it be flat or can you attach things to it? Sorry to ask so much. I think this sounds really cool and would like to do it, but I don't want to send out something that isn't right!

Tipins are usually made out of cardstock or similar paper because they are going to be glued into a book. Instead of sending a book from person to person, we just send a tipin and the receiver glues them into her own book. It can be a regular book, a spiral journal, or you could make your own book; adding your own pages. You would not want to use too much chipboard unless it is on the outside edges of your pages. Fibers, eyelets, brads, etc. should also be on the outside edges or your book will be propped open really wide. I hope this helps. Some of the 4x4's I have gotten, have been very lightweight cardstock that has been collaged on both sides. My tip ins for these 4x4's are card stock, mostly done with painted techniques on each side. When I have several of them collected, I am going to make a 4x4 fat book. Mickey's explanation is great and I can tell you that her work is excellent.

Received my 2nd set today. They are from Dayle and they are great! I wish I had several more sets for a whole little book of the sea. You ladies have some awsome stamps. Dayle, the fiber looks like seaweed...really neat. I will try to post pictures to the gallery.
