Description:

This is a good way to use up all those washi samples and leftover bits or showcase all the awesome washi you have. We're going to make swap cards for 1 partner that are decorated with washi tape on one side.

Take an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of white or light-colored cardstock and fold it vertically (longways). Open it and fold it approximately in thirds horizontally (shortways). This will divide the cardstock into about 4-1/4" x 3 2/3". It doesn't have to exact, but you should end up with 6 divided sections about the same size on the sheet of cardstock. Now unfold the cardstock and completely cover one side in random pieces of washi. Any size pieces placed in any kind of pattern or non-pattern. Cover that entire thing with washi so no paper shows through on that one side. Press the washi down so it sticks well and trim it off the edges of the cardstock rather than folding it over the edge. Now, turn it over and carefully cut along the folded lines to make 6 washi-covered swap cards for your partner. Send them in an envelope that is decorated with washi. Be sure to include the swap name and your swapbot name.

(If you don't want to do all that folding, you can measure it out and lightly mark with a pencil. You may be able to cut this with a papercutter but don't let it nudge up your washi.)

To help the washi stick better, you can iron it! Heat your iron to high, press down all the little edges, put parchment paper or a paper bag over the top, and iron away. The heat activates the glue, and it sticks for life (so I'm told) -- even in the US postal system! WARNING -- do not iron the washi directly. You MUST cover it with parchment or a paper bag. Or you could carefully cover that washi side with clear packing tape so no washi peels up.

No recent unexplained/unresolved 1s or 3s. You must have a 4.89 or higher rating.

Communication is key--if you're having issues with the swap, please contact your partner. And remember to RATE your partner when you receive the swap!

This is a USA only swap, but there's also an international version.

I will angel if needed.

I tend not to check the comments section very often, so if you have any urgent questions about the swap, please send me a PM.
