Hi! Quick question: Are these supposed to be handmade cards or just notecards you buy at the store? Thanks!

a VERY good lesson to learn here, in swap-bot, especially if you have an international swap partner -

if the deadline is a week past, and you have NOT received anything yet, PLEASE contact your partner FIRST, before leaving a bad rating -

international mail takes a little longer (duh) - so you might have to be patient.

That is why you certainly CAN (and maybe should) send your swaps immediately when you have your partners' names - that will give you ONE week until the mailing deadline, and ANOTHER week until the ratings come out.

If you wait until the "mailing deadline" it is only one week until you get rated, and sending them early just may prevent a rating of '1'.

if you want to make them yourself, that would be wonderful, but this is meant to be EASY and FAST - so store-bought would be fine -

Each notecard should be different.

It would be fun to have a "hand-made" card swap - might just have to start one, hahaha MaryB

i think it is awesoem that you added how to get hearts! Of course you have to remember not all people will rate with hearts even if you do send a bunch! Send it because you want to, not because you are aiming for hearts

good point, and very true - your swaps should come from your heart - not as some kind of "ransom" for hearts -

I'm glad that there is some interest here - didn't know if the turnaround time was TOO short or not - but think it will be fine - it's NOT a difficult swap by any means.

you are very welcome here, and as it says, it's a chance for newbies to get some FAST ratings, so they are not considered "newbies" any more.

just a note, I prefer to keep the swaps that I host at the TOP of the "My Swaps" page, so I will NOT be clicking the Sent button.

I HAVE sent my items, but when I click the Sent button, the listing moves to the bottom of that page.

It is easier for me to keep track of swaps I host if they are easier to find at the top of that page - hope that makes at least a TINY bit of sense! hahaha

it's great to see so many of you posting here that you've sent off your cards, and also as they are trickling in, please also remember to let us know that they've arrived safe and sound.

if you have NOT sent your cards yet, Tuesday is the deadline, so please try to get them off by then. If you cannot get them sent on time, let your partners know, so that it may avoid a poor rating.

And just a reminder, you will be able to rate your partners about a week after the mailing deadline - it will appear as another link in the yellow box. You will receive a generic reminder from swap-bot when that time comes, and I will also send out a reminder a couple days after that.

As I said in the email, there really is no "time limit" to rate your partners, but there are quite a few newbies in this bunch, who are waiting for some ratings, so let's all be kind and remember to do that.

It is wonderful to see so many of you posting that you have sent and also started to receive your swaps. Keeping in contact with a swap partner is considerate, and helps the swap run smoother.

For the newbies - please note, that this may or may not be a "typical" swap - it depends on the other swap participants and the person hosting it - and you will learn as you go along - there are wonderful swaps, and yes, there are some that are not so great -

When the time comes to rate your partners, keep in mind that the highest rating, (a '5') means that your swap "met the swap requirement" - that's it!

It does NOT mean "I received what I wanted" - it does not even mean "I loved what I got" - yes, I hope you like it, and I hope that you receive wonderful items from people who read your profile and tried to send you exactly what you hope for.

THOSE are the kind of swaps that might earn a heart!

If you have NOT yet sent your cards, the deadline for mailing them is Tuesday. Please try to get them sent out by then, because it will be time to rate partners in about a week and a half.

well, I think it's pretty fabulous! and to tell the truth, I can't say that I've seen it in very many swaps -

it really IS because you are such a great bunch! (and you have a wonderful host!! hahaha) - communication really IS the key here, in swap-bot - as long as you let people know what is going on, it's all good.

Remember to rate your fabulous partners, in a just a few days - you will get an email from swap-bot, and I will also send out a reminder a few days after that.

As I've stated, there really is no "time limit" to rate anyone, but there are lots of newbies who signed up here because it IS a fast swap, and they are eager for their numbers!

Even us "oldies"....aarrrrggghhh (who said THAT) - remember when we were waiting for our first ratings! MaryB

If you are waiting to your first rating - if you have SENT your cards, if your partner has RECEIVED your cards, then YES, you can certainly gently message them and ask if they liked them, etc, and if they would please remember to rate the swap. (especially if THEY have a rating for this swap) smile

If you received ONE of your swaps, but are still waiting for the other, check your swap partner's profile, and see if they have been rated for this swap yet - if so, that means that the OTHER partner has received their cards, and most likely, yours are "in the mail" -

You can still contact the person, and ask about it, but at least you will know that they probably are just taking their time with the Pony Express.

(I find that checking to see if they have clicked the "Sent" button or not, is not really reliable, since I do not click it myself, for any swaps that I host.)

But as I said, EVERYONE now has a rating, which means that you are NO LONGER considered a newbie - and should be able to get into any swaps that have strict entrance guidelines. (Like my round robin swaps! hahaha - yes, a brazen advertisement)
