I cast my vote with Terry -- this looks like a lot of fun, but I really can't do it by the deadline you've got. If you changed it to late June, I could definitely do it. Please consider it!

I too would love to do this but I can't at this time and in the middle of it we are on vacation. Please, please, please do another one or make this one for late June. I love crazy quilts and have made several crazy quilt pillows and wall hangings. This is an awesome idea.

The new dates: sign up by June 18; send by July 2... howzat. I will be tied up until the second week in August after that - am going to visit my daughter in England for a month, so it will be my last swap for now.

I sat on Saturday afternoon and sewed and sewed - got 12 mini CQs done, ready to embellish. I am having a problem getting the edges neat - when I zigzag them with my machine, they go all "ruffled". And the format is just too tiny for bias-binding as I did with Terry CQ postcard swap.

I might be a bit "silent" - cannot check back daily until my line is fixed. Love to you all.

If you back your ATCs with cardstock (like you did with your CQPCs), maybe you won't get ruffles when you zigzag...although you might have created a new technique for ATCs! Hugs, Terry

Hi all - still got no Internet at home, so this is my weekly visit. Glad to see there are quite a bunch of us sewing away. I am solving my ruffling problem with a double "lining" - thicker fabric stays staighter when you zig-zag the edge.

I developed a second concern whilst embellishing - some of my designs looked better to me before I started adding stuff - they were so cute and precious, that I'm sorry I did not just leave some of them as they were when I'd just stitched them together! I'll just have to make some more...

I must say - they look really cool when I put them into those little cellophane ATC sleeves. Good thing, that. I have about 600 sleeves to use up.

Cross-eyed and hooked, yes! I finished my dozen ATCs for this swap about a week ago, and my fingers are itching to do more. I am not going to allow myself, though. My current project is a tidy-up of my craft supplies. When (IF) I'm (EVER) done, I'll be oh-so-organised...

beginners's question ... if you want to rubber stamp designs on your fabrics, what do you use for 'ink'? Can you just use regular inkpads (all, or some particular type) since it doesn't have to cope with being washed and worn? Acrylic paint? Fabric paint?

and do you bother prewashing your fabrics for ATCs?

Mine are well under way. i'm in !

spinjenny, I use any kind of ink/paint on my fabric ATCs because they aren't being washed. I wash all my fabric when I bring it home so haven't tried stamping or painting on unwashed fabric, but I would think that the fabric would "take" the print better if the sizing is washed out first.

I have also read that you can use Krylon Fixative 1306, an art spray which can be found at artist supply stores (here in Canada anyway), to fix ink/paint images on fabric, although it apparently hardens the fabric a little bit.

My ten are finished and ready to go. This has been a lot of fun.I hope everyone posts pictures. I always feel inspired by seeing what others are doing.

Such peer pressure to overachieve... :) I too have done ten. I'm just about finished embellishing.

Regretably, I have to drop from swapping for a while. I enjoyed doing the postcards, but I don't have the time to complete ATCs. Have to fight the political BS from our town hall.

I must admit - this swap is definitely for over-achievers! What was I THINKING??

Every time I look, there are less people left in the swap. I have to fight against a sense of rejection not felt since childhood, when nobody wanted to play with me. Sniff. And I thought I'd overcome my innate bossiness - shows you. You are what you are.

But hurrah for us! With grit and guts and staying power (and a little crazy, probably?)

Wow, I feel slightly crazy for signing up, but it looks like too much fun! Erna, I've only done a single set of quilted ATCs, but I used a heavy fusible interfacing in between and I had no ruffling. I love your flower collages!! Happy crazy quilting...

I stitched mine to light cardboard and glued that to heavier card.

Erna, you wonderful, crazy woman! You are the ultimate in overachievers! Twelve??!!! I looked at your ATCs on your website. They are simply fabulous; I can only hope mine are a fraction as great as yours.

Oh--I sewed my mini CQs to muslin squares, then wrapped them around playing cards as backing. I will be gluing a heavy piece of fabric (maybe denim) over this, so as to cover the edges.

AAAAACCCCKKK!!! I was embellishing away on my ATCs tonight when, all of a sudden, at about midnight, it hit me that the post office will be closed for the next 2 days so I will not be able to mail my ATCs until Tuesday, July 3! July 1 is Canada Day, a national holiday here, but, because it falls on a Sunday this year, Monday, July 2 is also considered a national holiday, and all of the post offices will be closed for the next 2 days! I had completely forgotten about not having access to the PO - we usually have one open here 7 days a week. I am sos sorry! I will send my swaps air mail so they aren't delayed in getting to my partners.

Apropos the swap gallery: I have given up trying to load photos! Something, somewhere must be wrong with my computer or my settings, because I just cannot get the darn pictures to upload. After I've browsed, and selected the file on my computer, and click the last button to upload - nothing happens! So no pics here from me, although I think it's a must to share each other's work. Mine went out today.

Well we are home and it wasnt another heart attack.(Dec 23 2006) it was acid reflux, but they did tests to make sure. All is well- I may kill him for scaring me- but. Mine will be out in tomorrows mail. Thankyou Erna for the offer but what better to do in the waiting room than sew! And thanks to all of you form yoyur prayers.

I had contact with Dorothy; she was asking my forgiveness for only sending one! I tried to reassure her that the requirement really was only one, and it's just that we have a bunch of overachievers in here!

By the way, ladies, I have to say that I have REALLY enjoyed swapping with you. Erna, you were worried about the number of swappers, but I think that the low number made the swap more cozy and intimate. Also, the final listing seemed to be with reliable swappers, swappers who could be counted on to fulfill their obligations. I mean, really, look at NieceDenise, who was still concerned about swapping even with her DH in the hospital! (And NieceDenise, I'm so glad to hear that it was not a heart attack.)

So, whatever you ladies decide to swap in the future, count me in! Or, maybe we could form a future private swap, or even a Flickr-type group, or something. And, speaking of future swaps, check out TerryF's 12" quilt block swap. I think I may be signing up for that. :)

Yes, this was a chatty and friendly group, compared to the others I've joined on Swap-bot! Was fun! I think that when I'm back home from the holiday I'm on at the moment, I'll join whatever swaps you girls are hosting.
