Description:

Do you love to write or read poetry? Are you mad about Byron, Sylvia Plath, Wordsworth or Angelou? Then this is the swap for you!

SWAP REQUIREMENTS: Find or make a postcard that reflects your love of poetry; then, incorporate either a stanza or a line somewhere on the front of that postcard. On the back of this postcard try to write as much of the poem as you can fit. If you can get the entire poem on there, then great! Also include the poet's name and the name of the poem.

FOR INSPIRATION... Take a look at Poetry in Motion Postcards: http://www.poetrysociety.org/postcard.html

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Newbies are welcome, providing you have a completed profile. Please, no incompletes and no ratings less than a 4.75 for everyone else.

RATINGS: This is also a swap that allows you as the sender to show others what your favourite poem is. When you receive your card, please appreciate that the poem itself is unrateable. Ratings must be given based only on whether the swap requirements have been met: a 5 if they were and a heart if you think extra care and attention has gone into the card.

Please PM me if you have any queries, or write a comment below. Most importantly, have fun!!

can we send the actual Poetry in Motion Cards?... or are you looking more for something we put together ourselves?

Hi MommyKnows, as far as I can ascertain, these postcards are electronic only. This is not an electronic postcard swap, so please do not use the actual Poetry in Motion Cards. Also, please note, I am not affiliated with this group so I can not answer specific questions on their behalf either. It looks as if their site is not properly working anyway. Cheers, Debrina

Addendum! If you have a hardcopy Poetry In Motion postcard, please do use it. Providing it contains one of your favourite poems, it will be fine to include as a swap. Thank you, Mummy Knows (she really DOES know) for enlightening me on this.

I'm so glad to see that Poetry in Motion site. Our local city buses had some poems on display that were written by school-aged kids at a local writing tutoring place. I bet they got the idea from this!
