Description:

In this swap we will be making a hand embroidered fabric book.

The book can be constructed in whichever way you like, as long as it has a minimum of six pages plus a front and back cover. You could use the Jane Davila tutorial, or simply make separate pages and bind them together like Kat Coyle did. Or, feel free to make up your own way of binding, as long as it's sturdy.

The pages should be 2.5 x 3.5 inches (ATC size) or bigger.

Other embellishments such as buttons, sequins, beads, etc. can be included, but please make sure that hand embroidery is the main focus of your work. It's fine to use your machine in the construction of the book, but not for the embroidery itself.

Please list five different themes in the comments section to provide your partner with a little inspiration to get started.

My suggested themes are:

  • eyes
  • abstract
  • sashiko
  • the forest
  • lines and angles

but if you're my partner and you want to do your own theme/s, that's fine, these are just suggestions.

My theme suggestions are:

  • hands
  • scissors
  • the sky
  • bugs (NO ARACHNIDS!!!)
  • "_____" of Guadalupe

any (or all) are fine or pick something else based on what you know about me

Oh how funny, Cherry. I was going to put the same (NO ARACHNIDS!) after my insect choice. People should know that they are NOT the same, but they might try to sneak one in there.

  • plants
  • animals
  • insects
  • ocean things
  • fossils

I've heard that there are people who actually like them...

One of my work colleagues found a tiny scorpion in his bed the other night!!!! I kind of like spiders though, they are fascinating creatures and very good for the garden. Cockroaches, on the other hand....uggggh shudder

Okay, this is the hard part. Themes...um....

  • ladybugs
  • flowers
  • fruits/food/kitchen
  • sashiko (I like that one, @sunnysidey )
  • words/sayings/quotes

I'm perfectly okay with surprises, though. Spiders don't bother me. They eat the nasty cockroaches....shudder Also colours that I don't generally like can be good in an overall design.
