I love Hello Kitty letter sets!

Can you explain what is meant by "bootleg"...? Everything I have ever bought at the store with "Hello Kitty" on it has "Sanrio" on the tag or sticker, so I guess I am not sure what you mean by that...I get a lot of stuff at Target, and it always has "Sanrio" on it.

@candigirl The "Sanrio" stuff at Target is licensed out by Target but isn't what regular Sanrio swappers actually swap, if that makes any sense. When someone puts together a Sanrio swap, it's usually to swap Sanrio items that can be found at any Sanrio store.

Candigirl there is also a bunch of Hello Kitty stuff that's made in China that looks like the real thing but is far from it!

and those who don't get the sets from Sanrio stores (like me, I get them from swaps), how do I know it's not a bootleg?

I mean, how do I know it's original Sanrio and not a set another brand released "under Sanrio license"?

I really don't know how to answer that one as I've never seen any letter sets released by another company under a Sanrio license. I do have some Bootleg Hello Kitty stationery that was made in China though but it looks nothing like the Sanrio stuff nor does it say Sanrio on it anywhere.

I just realised Erika who you are..and this swap is for people in the US only so you really don't have to worry about it.
