Last day to signup/drop:February 11, 2010
Date items must be sent by:March 18, 2010
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

Each of us will list several books (three to five?) we would love to step into...make sure at least one is something most people will have heard of...then when partners are assigned, refer to the list and choose one of them for your partner to be "in".

Send your partner at least three items to "help" her be in her book. For example, your partner says "I wish I was in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." First things first... if you have never read the book, or never heard of it, now's the time! :) Then think of things from the book, and choose three (or more) to send. A tea cup, a small selection of interesting teas, a broken watch, a chess piece, a deck of cards, a white rabbit, a key, a small bottle with a ribbon and tag... or you might send a handmade item involving any of these, a bookmark for example, or an altered playing card. With the exception of the original books, it is all sender's choice, even the final choice of the one book.

It doesn't have to be expensive (a few tea bags, a homemade bookmark) or even useful (a single chess piece or altered playing card), just interesting and fun. You might want to include a note explaining your choices; your partner might not automatically understand the reference!

I am going to allow a month after sign-up for this one, to help spread out my postage a bit, and in case we end up having to read our partner's book! Feel free to send as early as you want. :)

NO flaking.

This swap idea is an altered version of something originally created by @Emzycal , who has kindly given us permission to use and change her idea.

Wow-it was hard to narrow this down!

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

Watership Down by Richard Adams

Any of the Company series by Kage Baker

Any of the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde

Might have to look up those last 2 but the first 3 are pretty well known. Just PM me if you need any help deciphering.

hollycm6 01/29/2010 #

Oooh... I didn't think of Watership Down! And I JUST bought a Thursday Next book... it's a series?????!!! I had no idea... I haven't even read it yet! It just looked so fun. Anyone interested in it, Barnes and Noble has what I imagine must be the first in their bargain book section. :) I think about $4.

Yes, at first I said "three" and I simply couldn't DO it. :)

Wheres is everyone? This is an awesome swap! Of course, I don't mind swapping with Holly-love her choices.

The first Thursday Next book is The Eyre Affair so definitely start there. While it's good, the series really picks up in the later books.

I edited this swap, pushing the send by date back one more week. Let me know if this is enough time for everyone!

hollycm6 03/ 4/2010 #

I am probably going to be running behind on this one... but maybe not. I do read pretty fast! I just got my books ordered today and am really looking forward to reading them. :)

Masterbard 03/15/2010 #

Leisha, you're gonna love your little box.... :) This was so much fun to put together; I hope this swap will be a regular occurrence, because I'd for sure participate every two months or so... I could've done almost any book on the lists above and had a great time with it.

Holly, I'm dying to know WHICH book you picked! Or at least which author... You have very carefully not said which you're reading currently..... ;P

hollycm6 03/15/2010 #

No but I AM loving the one I chose! ;)

hollycm6 03/16/2010 #

Well, masterbard, my initial postage to South Korea was going to be $43 for a package worth MUCH less... so it's back to the drawing board! But I'm getting there... :)
