Description:

I was thinking the other night about how I have so much music by artists from other countries, and how cool it would be to make a CD based on this. Oddly enough I was listening to "Around the World" by Daft Punk so I didn't have to think hard for a name!

Here's how the Around the World CD works
- minimum 14 songs but of course you can fill up the CD
- the songs can be in any language, they don't even have to have words: this is about WHERE the artists are from!
- 2 songs per country (that's a minimum of 7 countries), and please start with your own country! If you are putting more than 14 songs on your CD, you can do 3 if you find you don't have enough other countries.
- be sure to mark on the tracklisting what country the artist is from, and maybe even keep your countries grouped together, like in the following random example:
1. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance (USA)
2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (USA)
3. Daft Punk - Around the World (France)
4. Justice - Genesis (France)
etc etc~
If you aren't sure about where an artist is from in your collection, check http://www.last.fm or wikipedia for more information on them!
- This is the music YOU the sender enjoys, finding new music is always great!
- Lastly, as someone with a lot of remixes, go by the original artist in choosing the country, for example, I have a Lady Gaga remix by an Italian DJ, I would still put it under USA.
Other stuff: newbies welcome with a filled out profile, I'll check and all that. Everyone else, have a rating of 4.8 or higher.

I'm so excited by this swap. I love a variety of music and have so much from artists from around the world. Some are probably well known to most but I know some are not. I'm already making my track listing.

Question: What if I don't have two songs per country and does it count if the two songs are from the same artist?

megapanda 02/ 6/2010 #

2 songs by the same artist is fine if you have nothing else.

Thanks. tip for people: Really research where your music comes from. I found so many songs from various countries ( I didn't even some artists were Canadian and who I thought were American were from other countries) You'll be surprised at how easy this actually is.

can we burn an mp3 CD? that way we can add up more songs from more countries.. is that an option?

megapanda 02/ 9/2010 #

I guess that's okay as long as you check with your partner to make sure they would like that. I like to use mix CDs in the car when I'm bored with my ipod, and while I have the capability to do use mp3 cds with my radio, some people may not.

I don't even know what an mp3 is? What is it? (besides a cd.)

megapanda 02/10/2010 #

When you burn the CD, it saves the files as mp3s like they are on your computer, rather than as CD tracks. Normally you have to stop around 80 minutes of music on a tracked CD (18 songs or so), and by burning an mp3 CD you can fill it up to 700mb of songs instead (easily over 100 songs).
