Description:

Ever have a day when you need a little extra boost of positivity? This swap was created for exactly that sort of feeling!

The basics: Each person sends one large envelope, full of seven sealed envelopes. Each individual envelope will contain an inspirational item -- a quote, an excerpt from a book, an inspiring message, etc. Your swap partner can choose when to open the envelopes -- all at once, one a day, or can even save them for an especially stressful day.

What to do: 1. Create seven items that can go inside an envelope. Envelopes and items can be of varied sizes. Items should be created with the intent to inspire -- whether they be a quote, a word, an excerpt, etc. The "what" is wide open to interpretation. Be creative! Make these pieces fun to view, fun to open, fun to receive -- but most of all, make them inspiring. 2. Place each item inside an envelope and seal it. Feel free to be creative with the envelope, too! 3. Number each envelope, one through seven. 4. Place the seven numbered envelopes inside a larger envelope. 5. Mail to your swap partner!

Your swap partner can then open the envelopes as they want. All at once -- or saving them for a day when a little extra inspiration is needed.

Tips: * This is sender's choice (ie, not a profile-based swap), but feel free to read your partner's profile for ideas. If they're a busy mother of 3, maybe one - or several! - of your envelopes has quotes and inspiration about parenting. * Have fun making the items! Make them inspirational to look at, as well as inspirational in meaning. * Please rate as soon as possible after receiving your items. If you decide to wait to open your envelopes, please feel free to alter your rating later to include additional feedback if desired, or a heart.

Participants: * Must have an overall rating of 4.8 and above * Must have completed at least 15 mail swaps

Enjoy swapping!

Question - do we include "something" (an item) with the quote in each envelope?

dangerine 03/11/2010 #

I've already started gathering the inspirations for my partner....

My interpretation of the rules says that each small envie only has to contain one quote if that is the inspirational item. No need to put something in the there if you already put a quote in. Though your partner might like it =]

sounds cool I like to make up quotes as they come 2 me can these be used as well

This sounds great...what a way to a put a smile to someone's face.

iLoveMail 04/19/2010 #

Just to clarify before joining - we'll send & receive an envelope with 7 other envies inside, each containing an inspirational (not the religious kind) of quote/word/phrase, etc.?

Should the paper or whatever material its on be decorated or embellished somehow? I want to make sure I'm not sending or receiving 7 plain pieces of paper with only words on them, no matter how inspirational.

iLoveMail 04/19/2010 #

Didn't mean for that to sound rude (if it did) =)

I was going to PM the host and ask her to come back and answer the questions, but she hasn't signed on since the 6th. Not looking too hopeful......

This is a fantastic swap, I'm so glad I found it! :)

iLoveMail, in the description is says "Make these pieces fun to view, fun to open, fun to receive -- but most of all, make them inspiring" I would take that to mean the items should be decorated or embellished. I think most people will really enjoy making each one a beauty to behold... well, at least I'd like to think people wouldn't be so mean and to ram 7 bits of apper into envelopes and be done with it.

I hope the swap goes ahead as planned panykattack!

I would have loved to join this swap, because I had so much fun making the first one for my partner, if it hadn't been for the fact that the host of that swap (same host as this one, so beware!) flaked on me in round #1.

At least I have received nothing from her, not even a PM, and she has not marked the swap as sent.

I would advise others to not sign up for swaps in which the host herself has what seems to be a history of flaking ... especially in her own swaps! o_O

Good news - the host has logged on again and it turns out she has just been ill - so then hopefully this swap will go ahead as planned and the late ones will be sent out as well. I hope everyone in this swap has a great time with it! :-)

@openasthesky of course I don't mean to say that it's a good thing that you've had bronchitis :-) - just that it's good to see you back on SB and that things are going to be taken care of. :-)

LeishaCamden 06/13/2010 #

Nope, she flaked.
