Shrink Art Shrinky Dink Paper Doll

This is a swap that was offered up by group member Grimmlyn based on one she saw elsewhere. The graphic is not mine, but you can visit the link provided in the pic. I have made these before using the Mirkwood (Ruthann Zarroff's fabulous site) template and I put very fine tinsel hair on mine in wild colors. I ended up selling mine on eBay, or my Etsy shop, but they turned out really cute. I used tiny brads at the joints, but I really like the jump rings used by the lady who made the doll pictured here. Anyway . . .

You are going to make three dolls for three different partners for this swap. I know that seems like a lot, but there is not the gluing and making of clothing for these dolls that is so time consuming for some of the paper dolls. Also, by having three partners, I think it will get us to expand our connections within the group a lilttle more.

Your doll should END UP being around four inches tall. When I made mine (been awhile!!) I believe I copied the full sheet of shrink plastic in my printer so it started out as the full size template which is about ten inches tall when assembled. After shrinking, if memory serves, they should turn out to be between three and four inches tall.

The doll will be jointed. You may choose to use mini brads as I did originally, or use jump rings to attach her body parts. At any rate, limbs should move freely. Head moves? I will leave that up to you. You could choose to turn your doll into a necklace or piece of jewelry, a bookmark, whatever, but she should be gorgeous!

Definitely make some hair of some kind, and of course she should be decorated and colorful. You can use markers or paints as the picture features, or you can dress your doll with fabric, lace, and ribbon clothes. Your choice.

You can use an existing template such as the mirkwood one (http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/images/paperdoll.gif) or you can use the enchantedgallery dolls. Maybe if you PM your partners and ask if they wanted a mermaid you could use their mermaid template if you wanted to. I am not sure about that but I bet it would be pretty. It would certainly be okay with me if you were my partner b/c I like mermaids.

Or, you can create your own doll. I also have a bigger doll template drawn that has a face or plain hed and it all fits on a single sheet of 8-1/2 X 11 paper also. It is listed on my Flickr page. Not sure of how it would look shrunk up. I may have to try that!

Anyway, do your best work on these three little dolls and make something you would love to receive.
