Ye Olde Faire in Camelot #5: The Theatre

The faire is coming to town! Come one, come all but don't ignore the call!

Note: Please read over this swap carefully, it's not complicated I just like to explain everything with as much detail as I can, but make sure you read all the criteria before signing up.

This is the fifth in what will be a series of swaps based on the old traveling faires. Whether gypsies, a troupe of entertainers or players, whatever names they were called by, they would set up tents just on the outskirts of town and sell their wares, read fortunes, play instruments, and entertain! They would also sell things for the children, potions to cure aliments, weapons, jewelry and so much more. Just a simple faire but something new and exciting nonetheless!

Now that you are feeling revived after the visit to the apothecary, you are ready to peruse the faire once more! In the far corner of the grounds you notice a wagon with a rapt audience standing around it! Why, it's a pageant wagon! There's a theatre troupe performing, just the perfect thing for this evenings enjoyment, getting in closer you too fall under the play's lure and are caught up in it's tale...

Afterward, while the players are getting ready for their second performance you notice a small table off to the side. As you approach, you overhear a conversation and realise they are recruiting for their troupe! How interesting, maybe this is your chance live a carefree life, travel and meet new people, but first you have to prove yourself worthy and perform a brief audition, thankfully, there's still time enough to prepare a scene, how fortunate!

This will be a fun swap! You will be sending your partner all the things they need to prepare for their audition and prove their worth not only as an actor but a productive member of the troupe. Here are the three items you should send...

First, you will need to select a play. Please send your partner a copy (by way of a published copy) of a medieval play. Think about Morality plays like Everyman, or the Mystery or Cycle plays like The Wakefield Pageant, The Harrowing of Hell, etc. It can be a used copy, one from your collection or new. These can be found at most bookstores and are fairly inexpensive. The play doesn't have to be written during the medieval period so much as it at least has to be set in that time period. Then, take a brief scene from the play (if scenes are too long then select a dialogue of your choice) and hand make/craft a small play book/script in a medieval fashion for your partner, use calligraphy, script writing, cursive (as long as it feels and looks appropriate) on perhaps some hand made paper (I soak my paper in tea, it works well for me) or parchment. It can be a few pages tied together by string or ribbon or a scroll perhaps, just something for them to read off of for their 'audition.' You man decorate it if you wish, for an extra special touch.

Then lastly, please provide a prop or piece of costuming, it can go along with your scene but it doesn't have to. Perhaps a handkerchief for the part of a maiden, if it is set in tavern maybe a old mug for ale or old style playing cards, an old box, an old style brooch or ring, old styled gloves or maybe love letters, just whatever prop or bit of costume accessory you think fitting.

For extras maybe you could make a handbill for the theatre troupe performing this night, including the name of the play they are performing and the name of their troupe, or perhaps a old style bowl or collection plate the troupe uses to collect their contributions from the audience in, it's really up to you and your imagination! You by no means have to send extras, just do a good job on the swap! I just like to put ideas out there should someone wish to send something else in theme with the swap.

This is a group swap so everyone should be trustworthy and should have the minimum rating of 4.9, which is the group requirement. I will say this now - if you flake on a group swap you will be dropped from the group. Also, if you are going to be late even by a day please pm your partner to let them know it's just common courtesy...I understand life happens!
