these look like lots of fun! My question is: what is the best method to mail one of these so it gets to the recipient safely?? Thanks!

I just bought a bunch of matchboxes and can't wait to start decorating them. It's something I haven't done for a long time.

i usually wrap my matchboxes with bubble wrap and then send them in a bubble mailer.

Looking forward to making my first one! Already bought a bunch in case I don't like how the first one(s) turn out :) Question - can you fill it up with anything or does it have to all be one color? And anything else I should know? Thanks!

Ooooh, perfect! I've been wanting to get in on the "matchbox" thing, but was too chicken to join any other swaps, for fear mine wouldn't be good enough. I'm still "perfecting" the technique, so I hope that whomever gets my box will enjoy it!

I think you just fill it with standard items for matchbox fills since it doesn't state a theme or anything but you might want to double check with the host to be sure.

Rbaird- Your matchbox is in the mail in the morning along with a few extras. =]

I know the Dollar Tree near me has packages of matchboxes, and generally grocery stores will as well.

As for things to put in them, ribbons, beads, buttons, stickers, anything that the person might like that will fit!

I just posted a photo of the one I made. Meeramuse, don't look if you want to be surprised! I mailed it on the 6th, so if you haven't received it yet, maybe you will today.

I had so much fun with this! It was the first one I had ever made or even seen, in real life. I had only heard of matchbox decorating just about a month ago. I will definately be joining more matchbox swaps.
