For this swap you will put together one ATC kit for one partner so they can make the ATC themselves.

Your kit must include:

  • 1 blank ATC card
  • 1 background (ex. pretty paper, book page, sheet music)
  • Atleast 4 embelishments to go on the card (ex. paper elements, crystal stickers)

My examples are just that, examples. You can send whatever you think your partner would like but you must send the blank card, the background and 4 embelishments.

You will send one ATC kit to one partner.

I have never made an ATC, so I am certianly not one for this swap. I would love to try my hand at one though and this type of kit would be perfect for someone like me. I would greatly appriciate it if someone would kindly angel me one....I can always send other things in return if you would like.

sunnylee7 07/22/2010 #

@sflournoy1 - I would be glad to angel you. PM me with your address, and I'll pop a kit in the mail for you. You don't need to send me anything back. Just pass on the angel favor to someone else whenever you can. ATC's are fun and addicting to make. If you Google ATC or Artist Trading Cards, you'll find all sorts of ideas and info on them...

I'm looking forward to getting a nice assortment together to ship out! I hope whoever my partner ends up being is as excited as I am to send out something neat and new to try! The examples are so bare minimum to all the possibilities out there!

conniebobear 07/24/2010 #

where do you get ACT cards? to my understanding they are artist trading cards? Im brand new to this all and I am SUPER confused. all the info on what an ACT card is would mean the world to me thanks for whoever will answer :)

I think this is right: an ATC (or ACEO?) blank is 2.5 x 3.5 inches and you can cut it from chipboard or thick cardstock-- this is considered the "blank" *** I think hope someone lmk if I am wrong on this. New to this also.

conniebobear...

an ATC is an artist trading card. The blank card is just a nice thicker paper (like cardstock) size 2.5" by 3.5". Using your own artistic skills, you decorate the card in whatever media(s) & theme you desire. Most people use paper bits & other special embellishments (brads, ribbon, charms, etc). Other people paint or draw on them. I like to do a sort of paper collage w/ an origami piece and and embellishment (like a fun button). Lastly, you put your info on the back (Title of card, the swap theme, your real name, your username, your website, the date, the number [1of4], stuff like that). I like to make that look nice, too :]

I think that's the gist of it! Do a search on flickr.com for ATC...that's where I always go when I don't know something crafty. Great for inspiration as well. Enjoy!

oh...and most people put the card in a sleeve or envelope especially sized for it. it keeps it nice & free from damage :]

you can buy all you need at any craft store. they are very popular & a sales associate can point you in the right direction. also, check out the baseball card aisle...you can get sleeves there as well as albums n pages. i store my ATCs in baseball pages in a ringbinder.

okay...i think that's it!

Can I send a playing card for the base as that's what I use? It's sturdy. I will cut a piece of card stock to go over the back.

You are so fortunate to have specially sized sleeves and envelopes - I've received my swaps from the US in them and they are really neat. I use a little zip lock pocket that's a bit bulky, but does the job. We have FIFA world cup 2010 football card albums that I store mine in and now it's all over, they're selling at real bargain prices.

ZenPanda 07/25/2010 #

@comfits where do you find sleeves for them?

DianneCC 07/26/2010 #

I've seen the sleeves being sold on websites that actually sell ATC supplies. They are basically sleeves for baseball cards. I've seen them in Michael's craft store too. Do a search for baseball card pages and I bet you will find some!

DianneCC 07/26/2010 #

Dirt cheap from Amazon-I'm going to order more too! http://www.amazon.com/Card-Game-Supplies-Count-Sleeves/dp/B000COSA2E/ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1280160103&sr=1-1

I have never really made an ATC, but I really want to get into it! It sounds like so much fun and I hope the kit I receive can really help (: I am really excited about this swap!

ZenPanda...

I actually make my ATC sleeves. I created a template & trace it onto various papers. Cut, fold, n glue...only takes a minute. I think it's nicer than the clear baseball sleeves, but at the same time, I don't know what the use is for the sleeves after the ATC has been received ;]

DianneCC 07/28/2010 #

Zen... I recycle them and send to others. Nice for you to hand make the sleeves.
