Song Lyric Journal 2

I prefer no explicit lyrics. Sure, if you start your journal earlier, it can happen that you have explicit lyrics there... just add also another songs. ;) Speaking of that... can we start the journal earlier?

i loved the first one i did and anyone wants ideas on what to do then yell me ..... whoop gets excited and goes off to make her journal :)

What are "explicit lyrics"? My dictionary says that explicit is another word for clear/plain/obvious?!

explicit lyrics are lyrics with a lot of swearing ot sexual content included in them some ppl get offended with them

Thanks Sam, just had a look and it was not only informative as to what is needed, but it was a great journal too! I'm not sure I have enough time to do this swap properly and I don't want to do a half baked job of it but I hope everyone who joins has a great swap! Rebecca Xx

not everyone has done something like that journal i know some ppl in the last round just did a notebook with the lyrics in nothing more its upto the individuals how they want to do them .... i think i better shush now before i get banned from the swap

This is a great idea. Because u get to see what kinda of music ppl are in to and get to see how they are.

Just so everyone knows - there is no requirement for what you use for the journal. If you are creative enough and have the time to make your own journal go for it. If not purchasing a notebook at the store is fine. For the last swap I baught a "designer" notebook - my schedule gets kind of crazy and it was easier to buy one. As far as lyrics go, I just ask that the entire song be included so that everyone is writing about the same. I know it'll differ slightly due to song lengths and everything, but this way one person is not writing twice as much as someone else.

Feel free to start any time - it's fine if you go for more than a month

Is there a limit to the amount of songs?? Like.. should it be strictly one song a day?

I am really looking forward to get started on my journal... my only concern is that some people do prefer not to recieve a journal with lyrics of swearing or sexual content included, but this is still supposed to be songs that either we like or reflect our moods too that day? I don't think it's okay to say that 'these kinds of songs/lyrics I don't want you to send me'', it takes away the meaning of the whole idea for this swap... then again, this is only my opinion. But I much rather make a journal that reflects on what I felt that day or write down a song I have stuck in my head, rather than to try to find something more 'refined'. Is this okay? If not I'm going to drop out. I want to make a journal I am proud of, and not a refined journal I'm not completely satisfied with. (Sorry if I sound mean, that's not my intentsion! I do see why some don't want to bring anything 'negative' into their homes, but yeah.. read what I wrote above!)

I'm really confused. I didn't sign up last time because I didn't want to have to write out the lyrics for a whole song when only a line or two was really relevant to a particular day - also because of the amount of writing (and therefore time) involved. Your journal is really pretty, but all your chosen lyrics are printed -how does that fit with the swap requirement "write down song lyrics"?

There's no limit to the amount of songs in your journal. If you want to write more than one song a day, go ahead, but make sure you are writing the entire song. As far as explicit lyrics go, most of the people that did the last swap were fine with them. I know some people prefer not to listen or read explicit lyrics because faith, believes, and various other reasons. I try to respect that in the people I meet, even though I do listen to music with explict lyrics. I asked people to comment on that as a way to try to respect that. For the last journal, one of the songs that I included used a word that I find offensive, but I but was important to the meaning of the song. I put stars were the word should have been and used the song. Something like might work if you want to use a song with explicit lyrics, but aren't sure how your partner will take it. It kinds of being a radio edit type of thing. Ultimatly it is up to you, what you put in your journal. I just ask that everyone keep an open mind about the music that they recieve. If you would prefer not to have explicit lyrics, you do not need to say why, but partners are encouraged to contact each other if it is going to interfer with the songs in the journal. With that said, if it ends up being because of faith or believes, I ask you to respect that.

Journals don't have to be hand written. If you want to make a pretty journal on your computer, that's fine. The only requirements that I'm particular about is that it is kept for at least a month (longer if you want to start earlier) and that the entire song is written or printed in the journal. Other than that it's up to you. I know people who journal on their computer, and there are others who prefer to do it by hand. It's what you are more comfortable with, and what you would prefer to do - you could even mix the two if you wanted.

Yes, that I will respect. I guess what stood out to me the most is the fact that if the journal is started before the partners are assigned there might be those kinds of lyrics! I guess I could color code them so my partner will get a hands up on those, would that be okay? After the partners are assigned it'll be easier to alter some parts of the song, I didn't think long enough before ;) Just to be sure though, the actual journal will be kept between October 16th to Novemeber 16th? I mean, if it's started now, could it be possible to keep it just for one month from the date it was started or do we still have to keep it to the 16t? :)

As long as you keep your journal for a month that's fine. If you want to start it until you get your partner, that's fine. If you want to start it earlier and send it sooner it's fine. If you start your journal on October 3rd, for example, as long as you keep it until at least November 3rd, then your fine. If you want to keep it longer that's okay, but you don't have to. As far as the lyrics go, there was only one or two people in the last swap that didn't want explicit lyrics. Most people were okay with it. A few people said, that they would prefer not to have them, but if they were already in your journal or the song reflected how you were feeling that was fine. Over all, though, most people didn't care and felt that it was more important to see what the lyrics were and how they reflected the person who was keeping the journal. If you want to color coade your journal, that's fine. That can be part of how you design your journal. The only requirements that I'm really particalar on is that the entire song is in the journal, and that it is kept for at least a month

@officeweed that was the first song lyrics journal i did for the last swap ... i hope it went down well with my partner as an extra i put in a cd with all the tracks on this journal is nearly complete and after my partner recieves it i will upload pics for all to see :) and thanks for the nice comment xxx

Are foreign language lyrics allowed if we provide a translation?

Yeah you can use foreign language lyriccs as long as there is a translation with it.

@sam what a great idea with the CD!! =) I never received a journal from my partner in the first swap :( very disappointing....sigh lol

I hope my journal reaches its destination this time - I just sent it out. Last time I worked incredibly hard on a lyric journal and it got lost in the mail or something :(((((
