Description:

A swap for fountain pen users. This is a Letters & Writing category swap. The intent is to send letters of substance. Send one quality letter, written in fountain pen, to one partner.

If you don't have a fountain pen, maybe this is your incentive to try one. Inexpensive fountain pens are easily available. Pilot Varsity pens can be had for a few dollars at many of the major US office supply stores.

I'm going to set up one swap for each of the next several months and see if there are any takers. If so, I'd like to continue setting up a monthly swap.

Yay! I've a few fountain pens I got at the JetPens site. Still getting the hang of using them hehe. Put the rest on watch :)

Oooh, I love and adore fountain pens! I have 6 pens and I love to use all of them! This is the swap for me!

@estrones Hey, you! I just dropped you a letter in response to your "In Loving Memory Of..." I was wondering if your swap name on the back was written in fountain pen. You're my partner sending me a letter describing a Supernatural Experience. And now here you are again! Wheee!

I bought my first fountain pen especially for this swap! :)

Ugh...I tried writing with this pen and it's so thick. I chose the medium point vs. the fine point. It doesn't look so nice. Some lines are thick and some lines don't have enough ink so I have to re-write some of the letters. It's a sheaffer (cheap) brand I got at Office Max. What's the fuss all about ladies? :/

Traceyk 10/26/2010 #

Oh never mind....I just realized I bought the caligraphy one.

@Traceyk ..hahahah! Live and learn, I guess! If you get a choice, the Pilot Varsity is really one of the better cheap cheap pens. Pilot is Japanese and they respect their pens enough to make good ones, even the inexpensive ones.

As a longtime fountain-pen user, I have one to recommend in the $22-30 price range: the Lamy Safari. You can find them at most good pen stores/sites. They're excellent, long-lasting, easy-to-use pens that come in several bright colors: blue, yellow, red, hot pick, and maybe the bright orange is still around. I love 'em so much, I collect them!
