Description:
For this swap, you will create an altered journal for one partner. This journal will be for your partner to use. First, get a journal (lined or blank pages, most dollar stores have something you could alter). Decorate and alter the front cover. Please make something that you think is nice. Just plopping some stickers on the cover will not cut it for this swap. Use things like paint, fabric, papers, clay, ephemera, etc. Add things throughout the book. like a leaf or flower, quotes, a funny cartoon or picture, drawings, etc. Please decorate/add at least 12 things throughout the book on at least 12 different pages, plus decorate/alter the front cover. Please select a theme for your journal based on your partner's profile. For instance, my profile states I like monsters, or zombies, or mermaids, or travel, and any of those would be a good theme for a journal. If you are unsure what to pick, send your partner a message and ask your partner what they like. EDIT 3/16: Please no mini books. Journals should be at least 4 x6 in size. Have fun! This swap is open to group members in good standing, with no recent unexplained 1s or 3s. This is a USA only swap, due to postage costs.

So I am to alter a puchased journal so that it contains twelve pages decorated for a theme suggested by my partners profile? I only decorate? I don't have to provide prompts or provide a completed journal. My partner will fill the journal with their own ephemera, notes, etc?

@midwestkiwi ............Yes and No. Yes, alter a journal/diary type book....it can have as many pages as you want but only 12 pages need to have been altered by you. Each of the 12 altered pages and then the cover art should be around a profile theme from your partners profile. And, yes your partner will then use the journal as they see fit, and can add their own notes and more ephemera if they wish. You are basically starting it for them. So, No..you do not need to provide prompts or a completed journal. Also, you are more then welcome to decorate more then 12 pages but all that is required is 12. @catnipitis .. I didn't put a size but I think most are 4 x 6, 5 x 7, or 6 x 9 size. No mini books please.

Hi there! Please don't take this the wrong way... but what has this swap got to do with recycling?

not every swap in this group has to do with recylcing. they can, if you want to recycle items used in the craft, but it isn't required. i know the chunky houses don't require it. and, the things used to redecorate the journals could be recycled from elsewhere... images from old magazines, fabric from unwanted clothing, old buttons, or bit from broken jewelry...

I found a recycled sketch book at the art store. The cover and pages are mostly made from recycled material - I thought that fit into the flavor of the swap!

(I think it is Strathmore brand.)
