Description:

This swap is International, but I may do a USA only one later on.
To take part in this swap, you MUST be the parent of a child with special needs. The child can be any age, any diagnosis, but you must be the parent of the child, and be willing to share the diagnosis.

Note: all children and parents are special, but that is not the meaning of the swap! You need to be a parent of a child who has needs or needs care for illnesses or conditions. Such as: autism, physical difficulties or handicaps, cancer, surgeries, sight or hearing impairment; children who require daily therapy (physical, occupational, or speech ...), etc....

The requirement is to write a letter to your partner introducing yourself and child(ren) who has/have special needs, how you deal with it, etc ... I have one son who is yet un-diagnosed, and one son who had a brain tumor removed less than a year ago. I've found it difficult to find people who have any understanding of what life is like now. I thought it might be nice to meet and share thoughts, ideas, and support. :)

The requirement is only a letter (about 2 pages, let's say, handwritten or typed). But, hopefully we'll make new friends to share feelings and understanding with!

I've had to move the sign up and mail by dates for this swap. I apologize for any problems this causes.

I wish Grandparents were included so I could surprise my son who is the father of a special needs child. This is such a wonderful idea! I can see how within my own family he feels somewhat isolated and alone. He certainly is not shut out but he still has the feelings and my heart goes out to him...and all the other parents in the same situation. You parents are a very special breed!

Awww its awesome when you as a parent of a Special Needs child, understand and are very supportive, my mom is like you, both me and my sister have a SNC and my mom has been there 100% for us, as well as my dad, he paid to take my son to a specialist, Grandparents rock as well :)

I've set up another swap like this, that includes grandparents of special needs children. The sign up/send by date are months away, but might want to have a look! :)

I love this idea! I do not have a special needs child but I work with them. :)
