Description:

"When you create a Zentangle, you create a beautiful piece of art. You also can deliberately create a mood, a focus, a state of mind." ~From the official Zentangle website

Is this really true? Can I really create a mood or state of mind for myself through drawing a zentangle? I'm very curious to know if I can do this, and I'm curious to know if it works for others as well!

To answer this question, I am offering this swap!

Each day that you actively work on the swap, you should do the following:

  1. Put the date and time at the top of your paper

  2. Take a few minutes to write a reflection on your current mood or state of mind.

  3. Take a few minutes to write about the mood or state of mind you hope to achieve and why. (Perhaps you have a long day ahead, or you just had a stressful day, or you're feeling very excited and want to calm down, etc...)

  4. Draw a zentangle, all the while deliberately focusing on the mood or state of mind you hope to achieve.

  5. Immediately after drawing, reflect on your new mood or state of mind. Did it work?

  6. At least 4-6 hours later (or after the event you were preparing your mind for has occurred), again write the date and time down and then reflect again on whether or not your zentangle worked to create the mood or state of mind you hoped for.

PARTNER DETAILS: Each participant will have 3 partners, and this swap will be limited to 4 participants (including myself). Having a small group where everyone sees each other participant's results will allow us to easily discuss our conclusions together if we'd like. If there are more than 3 interested swappers, I will add a second swap.

THE TIMELINE: The swap has a 30 day period for you to work on it - of these 30 days you should actively work on this swap on at least 10 days, but feel free to do more!

WHAT TO SEND: Please keep your original zentangles and writing for yourself and send high-quality copies to each of your partners. If your zentangles are in color, please send color copies! There are no size, color, paper, etc... requirements for these tangles as I don't want to effect your emotional goals for each day's zentangles. There are also no requirements for the length of your written reflections (and these can be handwritten, typed, etc...) but I would expect that it will be about 1 handwritten page of total writing each day.

So, in summary, you will send to 3 partners copies of a minimum of 10 zentangles and 10 emotional reflections.

THE DETAILS: All swappers in good standing are welcome. 4.95 rating please, PM if you have a compelling reason to be below that level. Flakers will not be tolerated and the usual swap-bot and Zentangle group rules and standards apply.

Note: This is a larger than usual swap for the Zentangle group. Please join if you are interested in the intent of the swap (to discover if zentangling can really alter our moods and states of mind) and please choose another swap if you intend simply to draw the required zentangles without really engaging fully with the emotional themes.

This is also a complex swap, so please feel free to post any questions in the comments!

Wow! This looks like a GREAT swap!! I am on the watch list for now, as I am currently behind schedule in a few swaps and deadlines and I do not want to commit to a new swap until I feel certain that my previous commitments have been met.

Glad you like the idea and hope you're able to join in!

I'm so glad we got 3 of us instead of just 2 - hope you enjoy it - let me know if you have questions!

This is such an interesting swap that I really had to sign up for it, even though I'm still feeling over-extended right now. ... maybe zentangling will help. :P

Hugs all. I'll start working on my zentangle journal right away.
