About Me

About Me

September 2, 2019 - Back from hiatus and ready to step back into swapping!

Boo hiss, I have to see if I can figure out my photobucket account these pictures were being hosted on!!

33 year old female.

I like to post pictures of my swaps and outgoing mail on my Instagram! You can follow me at CrittertheShell.I'd love to follow other crafters as well!

I am an avid postcard collector and i like to put them up all over my walls.

I like watching foreign films...I'm always interested in any suggestions.

Grey is my all time favorite color, and all of its shades. Orange, Black and Yellow are my other favorites.

I find myself particularly fond of lion artwork and statues.

I rate based on the quality & effort put into the craft swap. I do appreciate extras, but I rate for the actual swap itself and award hearts for that.

Same when I'm sending, I do my best and send out work that I am proud of. When i add extras its because I had something I think they would appreciate and enjoy, but not just because I want a heart. I do love getting hearts, but like them based on what I sent for the swap and not if I did or didn't put extras in.

All that Jazz

Crafts

Drawing, collages, stamping, statues, drawings, ink outlines

I have a slight obsession with pens and markers. I always go to the pen isle in every store just to look and wish I had the money to buy one of everything

Television

House MD, Project Runway, Top Chef, Amazing Race

Loving True Detective season 2 and Once Upon a Time!

(I am a HUGE fan of netflix for being able to get different seasons of shows w/o actually buying them.)

Books

Wilbur Smith and Philippa Gregory are some of my favorite authors.

Been reading a lot of how and why the brain works the way it does type of books lately.

I read mostly science- fiction and specially historical fiction (NOT ROMANCE novels).

Dogs of Babel by Caroline Parkhurst is my all time favorite book/story ever.

Member of Goodreads.com you can look me up with my name, mine is the profile with the same avatar as here. Feel free to add me!

Movies

The Motel, Last of the Mohicans, The 13th Warrior, Twilight Samurai, Dumb & Dumber

I like a good range of them, but I mostly stick to action, Drama and comedies.

I might repeat myself in this section, but I mean for this to be a quick list instead of having to sift through paragraphs.

Likes - washi tape

-Planner stickers (have Erin Condren Vertical Planner myself)

-The sea, anything to do with sea life and that sort of thing. Any body of water really but the sea is my favorite.

-Lions, lions in art and statues. Cats in general.

-Dragonflies and Sea Horses / Sea Dragons

-Grey, Black, Yellow and Orange are my favorite colors. I also like purple.

-Postcards! Art/statues/landscapes are my favorite. I collect them and put them up on my wall.

-Pens, markers, sharpies...I'm a junkie for these types of things. ha ha

-Pictures of Statues

-Ancient History...of anywhere

-The flat rectangular magnets that museums sell

Dislikes

-Not really a fan of Kawaii things

-I don't celebrate holidays, because of my religion, so if you could kindly not include anything holiday centric that'd be great!

I'm not too terribly picky (at least I don't think so) but if I'm your partner for a swap feel free to ask.

Comment: Thanks Cayleigh for organising this swap. It was my first one and your last one. I have never read or heard of the books that you listed but I guess that is the point of the swap. You have sparked my interest in the Ilona Andrews books and will request some of them from my library this week. Thanks for encouraging me to read something different which is a goal of mine for 2018. Happy readings for 2018.

Comment: Very impressive! I read 58 books in 2013, the year I started keeping track. That's my record. You introduced me to some genres I had know idea about :)

Comment: Thanks for the notes about the books you read. I don't read fantasy but it's good to know what I'm not reading. The Transcriptionist cuaght my attention because that's work I did for many years --but not in seclusion and it didn't lead to an adventure-- just as well.

Comment: Thank you for your answers to the many questions, Cayleigh! Some thoughts: I too collect Patricia Briggs' Alpha & Omega and Mercy Thompson series. I read Silence Fallen and was really relieved that it was a new story, since its description made it sound like it had a recycled storyline--just set in a new place. :-/ I also try to keep my books in pristine condition! Only I don't lend my "preciouses" to anyone; instead, I buy "new" copies to loan out. :-) I am fascinated that you like Asher from the Anita Blake series. I always enjoy hearing what people think of characters I despise, and Asher is one most people seem to either love (like you) or hate (like me). :-) Lastly, for not really understanding what tropes are, you sure were successful at sharing what tropes you most like and most hate! :-) Oh! One truly last thing, you mentioned Anne Bishop's Black Jewels books several times (have you read any of The Others books?). I LOVED that series but one of the death's in it so devastated me that I still remember it five years after reading it. :'( And I haven't bought that series for rereading. But now that a bit of time has passed, and my reviews are pretty shoddy, I think I might buy the series for eventual rereading. :-) Thank you so much for sharing! :-)
Response: Hi! Thank you for the heart. Yes, it took me a while to decide to try The Others, but I really like that series as well! Though not as much as Black Jewels. = ) Interesting our completely opposite reactions to Asher~

Comment: hi! i was away from home in April and was thinking where was your swap. so I went through all the mail that I got during my absence, not just the envelopes...and yours was stuck to a magazine! so sorry for the delay in rating.thank you very much!lovely books you have read. I read aprobably most of Charlaine Harris's books but I never read the Midnight series. must! I like how she writes,it's catchy though there are moments you wish more of some books. The Raven Boys made me think of Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series because of the Ley Lines....hehe. Thank you again for a lovely swap!

Thanks for hosting these reading log swaps. I really enjoyed keeping my log and look forward to receiving my partners' logs! Unless I am ridiculously busy I will try to join each swap you host for as long as you continue to host them.

Thank you so very much for angeling the 4th quarter reading log! I really enjoyed your reviews, and as a result ended up adding several books to my to-read list and moved others higher up on the list. I'm looking you up on goodreads. :)
