Canada Post is currently on strike and will not be delivering mail until it's resolved. My outgoing swaps may be delayed, as well as my ability to rate incoming swaps. I'll be holding off on joining any more swaps for now.
My name is Jay, I'm 35 and living in Victoria, BC. I'm non-binary, pronouns she/they. AuDHD. I was active here on Swap Bot from 2011-2014 and have just returned!
My biggest passions are travel and being outdoors. I've travelled around Central America and Europe, lived in Australia for a year, and done long van-life-lite road trips in my SUV. I've hiked about 1500 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, in 2019 and 2024. Someday I hope to go back to finish the trail.
For now, I'm settled in Victoria for a couple of years at least. I'm working on some prerequisite courses I'll need to go back to school to study forest biology at a university here.
I love non-fiction, popular science books. Some of my favourite topics right now include ecology, conservation, urban wildlife, evolution, animal minds and perception, histories from the perspective of ordinary people, and deep-dives into the history of everyday things (I've recently read books about the history of cars, malls, and trash).
When I was younger, I was a major fantasy/sci-fi bookworm, and I'll always have a soft spot for those genres. I taught myself to read and write Tengwar, the Elvish script from The Lord of the Rings.
I don't collect stamps, but I love getting mail with interesting commemorative stamps. It's probably the easiest and cheapest way to make my day!
If you've got me as a partner in a postcard swap and you're stuck for what to write, I like hearing about your favourite books, the city you live in, your collections, or your favourite quote or poem. Handmade or vintage postcards are welcomed if that's your thing.
Other than that, just use some common sense and put your heart into it, and I'll probably love it.

Jay, I've received an awesome envelope filled with all sorts of stationery items; no note with them, so I'm very happy I keep track of things I'm expecting! Thank you so much; this was a very lovely RAK from you. I hope you had a great Xmas and will have a health, wealthy New Year :)
Canada only - stationery RAK -- Thanks so much for the envelope of postcards and postage stamps. Perfect for my collection.
Thank you so much for the LoTR postcards, and for the postage stamps as well - I appreciate 'em! Thanks for making my day with happy mail! :)
First of all, I'm soooo sorry that I am notifying you so late about the ATC you sent. I have no brain!
I loved the technique! On close inspection, I can tell it took a lot of work. But it also adds a lot to the background - a subtle but effective technique. I can imagine that your collage will be awesome!
So glad to hear the magazine arrived, I was just wondering about it today! If you are able to show the finished product to me that would be great, I am sure it will be awesome!
I was just perusing your Flickr and OMG those adorable mini books with the stamp covers. I think I fell over from shock and awe! Freaking awesome.
I was just checking out your profile, as you've signed up for one of my nutso postcard swaps, and wanted to say a quick hello. Like you, I'm from a rainy little town in BC (Salt Spring Island) and I also love botanical illustrations, birds, the ocean and so many other things that you've listed on your profile. Anyway, nice to meet you! :) xo Arianne
Thank you, thank you, thank you for ALL the RAK jokers that you sent! Love how unique they are... you are so kind to share them! (Love the "jays" card that you used to sent them in, too!)
