About Me

badge betatester

I grew up in a small town in the mountains of Southern California and I miss my home town so much! I now live in Southern Maryland.

I was a Rotary Club exchange student to New Zealand my Junior year of High school. I would love to go back there to visit one day. it is one of the most beautiful places in the world! I would do almost anything for a bit of real New Zealand Vegemite! (Thank You Jannikinz for the vegemite! I am in 7th heaven! Yummmmmm!)

I have 1 dog, Anabelle, and my dad's cat, Cleo. I can't imagine life without them!
Cleo Anabelle

Some of my hobbies include geocaching, digital photography, and playing VMK.

I am a salesperson at a furniture store. I use discontinued upholstery fabric samples in a lot of my crafts.

Favorite Music

  • Country - Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson
  • Jazz - Stephan Grapelli, Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday
  • 80's Pop/Rock - Kajagoogoo, Duran Duran, R.E.M., Elton John, Culture Club, Tears for Fears

Favorite Books

I love books but I don't read as much as I used to. * Little Women, Harry Potter Series, Mama Makes Up Her Mind - Bailey White, Everything I Need To Know I learned In Kindergarten - Robert Fulghum
* I like books about US Presidents and their First Ladies and books about the Brittish Monarchy.

Favorite Television

My all time favorite TV show is I Love Lucy.

Favorite Crafts

I love making all sorts of things. I make handbags, beaded bookthongs, crochet a tiny bit & only super simple stuff, cross stitch, scrapbooks, doggie clothes, cat toys, and all sorts of other things.

Favorite Movies

  • In general, I like classic movies the best. Some that come to mind are The Egg and I & all of the Ma & Pa Kettle movies, Don't eat the Daisies, Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House, The Odd Couple, The Cowboys, Gone with the Wind. I love anything with Cary Grant, Myrna Loy, Rock Hudson, Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Lucille Ball, Shirley Temple...You get the idea...
  • I love Disney films, both animated and other - some of the movies from the 60's and 70's are so corny that they are funny (Snowball Express & The Cat from Outer Space.) I loved Cars (Especially the character Mater - He just cracks me up!)
  • I like comedy and dramas. The RunAway Bride, Apollo 13, Miss Potter, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead
  • Old sci-fi is great! Movies like Catwomen from the Moon in 3-D (We've got that on video - LOL!) and The Day the Earth Stood Still are awesome movies.
  • Star Wars (It's the first movie I remember seeing with my dad)

Things I Like to Get

  • Fabric and sewing notions
  • Yarn - any kind any color - Stitch Markers
  • Buttons, especially Shank buttons
  • Origami paper & origami star paper
  • Beads
  • Pressed Pennies (for my dad)
  • Scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies
  • Handmade things
  • Ribbon
  • Cat toys & cat treats (No catnip please)
  • Dog treats
  • Postcards (used or not used/old or new)
  • Animals: Aligators, Cats, Dogs, Cows, Penguins, Turtles, Fish, Dolphins, Kiwi Birds, Sheep, Piggies
  • Angels
  • Disney Stuff especially the classic characters
  • Harry Potter related things
  • Road Runner and Wyle Coyote (for my mom)
  • Tiny Pewter Figures
  • Seashells & Nautical & Beach themed items
  • Magnets
  • Garden Decorations

Tea & Coffee Swaps

I love tea and will try any flavor you care to send. I prefer individually wrapped teabags over loose teas and unwrapped bags. Black teas and fruity teas are generally my favorites, but I will try anything and love to have a large variety on hand to satisfy my every mood.

I prefer flavored coffees and my favorites are chocolate raspberry and vanilla flavors. I don't drink coffee at home very often so I usually swap coffee mainly for my parents and they'll try anything!

Comment: a great photo, PLUS an actual duckie! Thanks so much - the duck in my bathroom was probably getting all lonely, so a new friend may be just the thing for her. Before yesterday, she had to live in my shower shampoo caddy and look sadly down at the party going on at my sink - all the samurai and Red Rose tea figurines and Playmobil pirate got to hang out all the time and she was feeling left out, but now all will be well!

Comment: Thank you for the polar bears! Looks like it would be a good vacation to take. I've heard polar bears can be quite mean, so it's a good thing they are on the "cute" side!

I don't know what happened on the forum, but I am so sorry the group is ending, especially over meanness. I never have understood why people find pleasure in being cruel to each other. Thank you so much for trying to have a group of good swappers who should have been above that. I hope you are my partner sometime in the future. Kathleen
